Sexual/Cheating dreams?

The Force is Strong With This One
Hello,

This question has been on my mind for quite some time. I've read some interpretations on the website already, but I'd like to know if there are any of you who have similar dreams and can shed some insight. I think after involving myself more with the work, I have become more concerned about sexual dreams or dreams of me cheating on my girlfriend, which I have had for quite a long time already. I am actually in quite a conflict, because I seem to enjoy it in my dream, and in the beginning, after I woke up, I would feel quite guilty and ashamed of the experience. But I seem to be having these dreams so often that I've gotten used to it. I find it quite strange, because quite often I wake up forgetting all about my dreams, but I always seem to remember bits of these dreams, if only for that day.

Could this be due to my age (20) and my hormones, or are there other reasons to it?

(Sorry if this post is inappropriate. Please delete if it is!)

Hi Eddie,

I'm wondering...are you doing EE program from this thread and reading all the posts there (This is my assumption from reading your past posts on this forum)? If so, it might explain about your dream.

This dream of yours does not really mean "cheating" on your girlfriend, but more of a releasing or dealing with certain issue(s) in a way. Dreams are never direct. Hormones can also play a factor into it.

my seven cents, fwiw.

Hello Myrddin Awyr,

It took me awhile to get the EE breathing program started. These dreams have occured before I started the breathing program last Monday. What's worrying for me is that although I did get some hyperventilation effects during the breathing parts (which I read was normal for some), during the meditation part I somehow zoned out and this sort of dream happened again. :/ Maybe I should try to focus harder on the words. I'll be doing the full program again today before I sleep.

Thanks for your input!

Hi Eddie,
I don't have any answers for you, maybe just some things to consider.

You say the 'dream happened again.' as if it is a bad thing. I think it is something you can explore but not something that is good or bad. It is what it is.

My personal observation is that relationships in dreams are more natural and fluid and don't normally revolve around sex unless it has to do with repression or healing. Wish fulfilment or release of anxiety/stress.

Do you mean in the dream you are cheating on your GF, or you feel that way when you wake up? I don't usually like dream dictionaries because the interpretation of your dream is so personal, but sometimes it can give you something to think about. This is from _http://www.whispy.com/dream_dictionary/symbols_c/dreaming_about_cheating_dreams_dream_meaning_cheating.htm

Cheating Dreams: Dreams About Infidelity, Affairs & Cheating

Many people seem to have dreams about committing adultery or about their spouse committing adultery (cheating or being cheated on). In this dictionary there is a definition for cheating and here I will add a few more thoughts about this dream topic. Many dreams come from the private unconscious and are a reflection on thoughts, fears, desires, issues or are a response to stressful or anxiety provoking situations. The details of the dream need to be considered before attempting an interpretation. Details such as who is cheating on whom and what are the circumstances surrounding this dream event, need to be established. At times people have dreams about cheating on their spouses as a response to a long and monogamous relationship. The dream may be a compensation for boredom, monotony or unhappiness. On the other hand, the dream could be about you connecting to deeper parts of self, which is represented by a desirable person of the opposite sex. On rare occasions a person may suspect, or feel on some level, that their mate is not faithful but is not willing to admit this consciously. Thus, in the dream state the individual confronts his fears and from there may begin to deal with the situation on a conscious level.

Dreaming of adultery might be surprising, because it can be absolutely not connected to the reality. A dream of committing adultery does not exactly say that you are cheating on your partner, but it may make you feel guilty. This way your subconscious tells you that you have some offences against others or your partner, and even against your own true nature. Very often people who are involved in an emotionally and sexually cold relationships are likely experience this dream. Also for some people it means that they are ready to have an affair.

Alternative interpretations:

Cheating - We all have sexual desires that sometimes attach to people other than our partner - or to people it would be difficult in reality to have a sexual relationship with. If you are having sex with another person, the dream may therefore be a release of sexual feelings. This is a harmless way of exploring sex with another person.

Hope that helps.
