Kinda lame. My comment is on the end. I did not shout the article.

I think it is no accident that political articles, vast majority of which were more or less leaning towards conspiracies and questioning of government, predominated that website. It is most likely no accident that the team asked people to go back to sleep and instead practice some intellectual masturbation, as you so aptly put. It makes sense that if the majority of readers are in fact interested in posting and shouting and participating in political discussions, and the website owners want support what the majority desires, they should allow politics to remain as the most importan subjet matter. So it seems likely to me that some external pressure was applied on the owners of the website, because some of those articles were hitting too close to "home". Some of them, for example, were articles written by Joe from the SOTT team (so reposted from the SOTT website into shoutwire), which almost instantly shot up to number one space on the front page. It is pretty clear what the majority of users think and what direction they wish to go. So the big question is, if this is what the vast majority of their users want, what possible reason could they have to tell this majority to do something else. Why would you tell the majority to do what the minority wants? That makes no sense to me. So the only thing I can come up with is, they're being pressured by someone to change the subject matter.

There are already plenty of agents that actively participate in discussions there, trying to use every pathocratic tactic to lead astray and confuse and distort and manipulate. It seems that if this new suggested change of direction does nothing to change anything, the owners of shoutwire may begin to take a more active role in vectoring the discussion, like AboveTopSecret owners. Either way, it'll be interesting to see what transpires. I posted my comment right under yours.

Yeah, I was waiting for this to happen. I read a post from the editor of shotwire almost three months ago as he was 'bowing out' From the sound of it he didn't really want to go and it sounded like he was pressured into leaving because of the political slant of shoutwire, in other words concentrating on the truth of what goes on in this world. When I read his last post saying good bye it seemed like he didn't want to leave and that the winds of change had brought him to this. Here is his post :-

So It Is Goodnight From Me

Then later I ready the post of the new editor and it didn't sound good at all. Cant' find that one at the moment but I remember him saying shoutwire would not continue to be political.

I have to agree - simply put, Shoutwire was very likely actually informing people of things on which the PTB want people to be kept in the dark - from the rantings and insults thrown in their comment section in regard to certain truthful articles, it is clear that everything, short of removing the political articles, was being done to limit their impact. So, now they stop the articles - it's yet another example of the adage that you can tell what kind of real impact something is making against the PTB by the backlash against it. Yet another venue for access to the truth has been compromised - and yet another reason to value what SotT does, osit.

I agree it stinks. I found SOTT via a shoutwire article that caught my eye in june this year whilst looking for torrents. Shortly after there was a reader poll that i found rather odd:

the site was proposing to become non political and as a result wanted every viewer of the article (i was then reading) to click and say if they disagreed. If i did not click then i would be agreeing that the site should be less poitical. At that time (and pretty much always) i am consious (although random and sporadic) about security. It occured to me that by clicking i would be giving my IP address and identity and flagging myself up as someone interested in current political issues. It felt like a contrived no-win farming exercise and very much the kind of poll that would be set up to obtain a predetermined POV. Although i thought it should remain as is, I just closed the page (after a minute of 'which tin of beans shall i buy? indesisiveness) :-). Interestingly the article above makes no reference to result of this poll and instead says the decision is driven by the website owners. Unless i was part of the 'experiment':

first article above said:
That being said, those who care most about ShoutWire (i.e. administrators, editors, hardcore members, etc.) devised an experiment to see if we could diversify the reader-base by participating more and starting a non-political trend of content. The idea is to submit anything but politics on a daily basis, in effect hoping to counter, or balance out, the political articles.
Am i being overly paranoid in not shouting out?

I smell a rat.

It struck me as fishy as well. Based on how well the "political" articles were recieved from what I could tell it seems suspicious.

so lets get this straight: a popular news hub, which is now starting to get a reputation for being a good source of political stories, is now generating a LOT of traffic via that political slant, now wants to back off the one thing that is making the site successful?

<sarcasm>yeah, makes perfect business sense.</sarcasm>

so, mr. shoutwire, they got to you too eh?
