space slime or something more terrestrial?

I took some pics yesterday of some slime i saw at a woodland estate in Scotland. I've seen other slime a while back that looked exactly like the comet slime that has been reported. Taken with a poor phone camera. Not sure what this is..

I had a quick search and another photograph was taken on Oct 2005 of a similar substance said to be growning on moss.

However it's not as round as or as large as the one in your picture.

hard to say really from that page. The tree above was a Sycamore (pretty sure about that). Weird!

Maybe a slime mould? Something terrestrial that is weirder than anything you can imagine biologically speaking.
