spelling of name

I've seen that for the last month and I am not sure why, though. I thought it could be a minor glitch of sort. While typing this, I can see your name under the topic summary section and it looks fine. Some members have that space while on different days, it was fine. It happened to my name as well from time to time, but not continuously.

Yeah, I've seen that for a while, and it seems to be with long forum names, but I could be wrong. When you quote someone that has a space towards the end of their name, the quote box doesn't have the space in their name. So all these things considered, it might be the amount of characters in the posters user name and only displays that way (with a space) there and nowhere else? Not sure.

If you hover over the name, the message displayed shows it correctly too. I don't see anything unusual in the HTML delivered to the browser. It might be something that has changed in the PHP code for the theme (template), or it could be any number of other things. I started noticing it some time ago for longer names.

I tried it (a name longer than 12 characters with no embedded spaces) on an SMF forum that I operate, and no space was inserted. I didn't try changing the username, just the display name. That forum uses a free 3rd party template that I downloaded. I also didn't find anything by Googling for the issue, so it may well be an issue specific to this forum's templates.

The HTML has a space in Nancy2feathers' name (definitely) and others who are of a similar length (I think--I've seen it before, but haven't checked the HTML until now).

Yes, mine has been doing that as well (last p was detached) but seems OK for now.

I remember when your name was displaying that way - I wondered if you did it on purpose to be Mrs. Tigersoapy (Tigersoa p) ;)

It is definitely within the source code. There is one usual space between the letters of the username. Trailing name string varies in length, leading string as well. It can be found (a) in user list and (b) some specific posts.
There doesn't seem to exist bug reports regarding this issue on the SMF forums.
