Hello,

I recall a month or two ago, SOTT was under attack and someone listed some links for spyware removal. I am unable to locate that thread with the search function (probably not using correct words to search for).

spyware search and destroy 1.52, dont forget to update before scanning!

but, that didnt help me get rid of a perticular nasty virus/bot I got..

however, http://www.eset.com/download/free_trial_download_int.php got them all... its 30days free, it only takes a hour(s) to scan your disc(s)
dont forget to update either, I had problem updating from the main-update sever; it said the 2007 data-file was up to date.. had to select another sever
in the "update/advance/" menu.

I have Avast (_avast.com) and it stopped the spyware from being installed during the attack. It's an antivirus program and free for home use!
 
GRiM, i just tried ESET from the link you posted and it works like a charm, thanks!

out of curiosity, does anybody else use lavasoft ad-aware? that has seemed to work fine in the past for me but i'm not entirely sure how much it picks up as far as trojans and such...
 
I used to use ad-aware and/or spybot but switched to Ccleaner and Avira a few years ago. No real complaints about any of them but I prefer Ccleaner because it runs much faster than ad-aware.
