Star Trek: Generations

A Disturbance in the Force
Has anybody else seen this movie? I thought this was about the "Wave" and other things the Cass talk about.

In the movie they have an energy ribbon that cycles through the universe and whatever gets in its way is transported to another dimension (4th D?) but what appears to the 3rd D observer is total destruction. They call this other dimension the "Nexus" which appears to me what 4th Density might be like.

The android Data, gets an "emotion" chip inserted into his positronic-brain, which made me think of an OP graduating to a souled human.

Anyway there are many other things in the movie that are very interesting, which I'll leave out of this, in case people want to see it.

The main message seemed to be that anybody who wants to go to 4th Density is crazy, and it's not real. So Picard does every thing he can to get back to 3rd Density so he can be with his mates for the finale. Symbolism for what could possible happen to Earth soon?

Here's a synopsis of the movie: http://www.startrek.com/startrek/view/series/MOV/007/synopsis/87.html

Check it out and let me know what you think.

Hi Juan,

I would like to invite you to post to the Newbies section, if you are still around. Just a little about yourself, if you've read any of Laura's works. How you found the forum. You don't have to say anything personal.

As far as this movie goes, I have to say that it has been a long time since I saw this, but thinking about it and remembering the movie, it seems that the energy ribbon could have been a lot like the Wave and that once you cross into it, the people there were able to just think about something, and there it would be. Much like we have read about 4D.

This is actually interesting since I saw the movie long before reading any of Laura's stuff. But the similarities of the energy ribbon and the Wave, and, then, once the energy ribbon has "taken" you, you are in a place where your thoughts become reality and descriptions of 4D are remarkably close.

And, in the movie, it did seem to be that the message was that it was a bad place to be in. Although, the energy ribbon was sort of taking people indiscriminately. With the Wave, if it is something that does happen, you have to have your awareness at the right level to cross over.

I've seen it. Personally, I tend to not read anything esoteric into it. Rather, I enjoy it more in terms of mind-stretching exercises. :)

Yes, I love this movie! It's definitely one of my favourite Star Trek films. Picard AND Kirk in the same movie!! :headbanger:

A: Because we see it. We are able to see all, not just what we want to see. Their (Lizzies) failing is that they see only what they want to see. In other words, it's the highest manifestation possible of that which you would refer to as wishful thinking. And, wishful thinking represented on the fourth level of density becomes reality for that level. You know how you wishfully think? Well, it isn't quite reality for you because you are on the third level, but if you are on the fourth level and you were to perform the same function, it would indeed be your awareness of reality. Therefore they cannot see what we can see since we serve others as opposed to self, and since we on the sixth level, we can see all that is at all points as is, not as we would want it to be.

So that means Picard is definitely an STO candidate. ;)

Nice analogy. I never of thought of that. I notice you can find deeper meanings in some movies if you know what to look for. Little messages that other's may not be picking up on that are completely subjective to you but ties in to other thoughts.
