Stars Stolen From the Sky - Poem inspired by Wetiko

The Living Force
Hi all, a couple of years ago I wrote this as a spoken word piece, inspired very directly by Paul Levy's phenomenal series of articles on the Wetiko virus. As it's come up again on SoTT radio, I thought I'd share it with you. Poetry isn't everyone's thing (and this piece, like practically everything I write, really is better heard than read), but nevertheless I very much hope that whoever reads it enjoys it.

Stars That Were Stolen From the Sky

One day we looked up and realized
The stars had been stolen from the sky
And replaced
By unblinking predatory eyes
Surveilling us from spy satellites
With the will and the capacity to call a nuclear catastrophe from space
To carve out sterilized zones of securitized peace
To catch us like rats in an arms race maze
And in the depths of this depraved and dreadful day
We raised ourselves up
And came face to face
With our immanent erasure
Through the enslavement
Of humanity's meaning and place.

A fitting end, perhaps, for an enfant terrible species who fell too long for all the easy traps
Laid by the time-tree's most
Sophisticated psychivorous arachnopaths
Whose mind-webs writhed like watersnakes weaving crime waves
In the lagoons of enwombed consciousnesses
Blinking awake from the aeon dreaming of mind
From which they'd so recently sublimed
Only to find
That no sooner had they opened their eyes
And beheld the true depths of the sky....
Than they must evolve or die.

And one by one we got it.
Like imaginal cells in a cocooning caterpillar
Catching back-echoes of the future in our chromosomes' coherent quantum sight
As our mass went critical we cried
That if it must be alchemy or death
We'd at least prefer to die trying
For there can be no future in death
But only in growing wings and flying.

And as flockopalypses battered the countryside
With bone darts fletched with blood-flecked feathers
Kicking up a black blistered plague of fat buzzing flies
We flipped the bird in reply to the freaks seeking control with their lines of fire inscribed in Mordor's boiling sky.

For we were in open evolt
With an instantaneous mutation at the speed of mind
A metanoia that melted one into another
Who swore as one
That we would not leave one and other behind.

We opened the doors in the hearts of our soul-kin to find
Pulsating inside
The electrical cores of the stars that had been stolen from the sky
And scattered through decartesian grids
Overlaid on our geometered lives
But until dis day da constellations lay disconnected and unrecognized
Oblivious to our you in thee we did not see the obvious overunity
That to whatever degree we are one
We're divided by zero
A point
With which we perceive
That we can exorcise the executioner's axes with an exercise in infinities
Bursting out from the fusion of atomized individualities:
In the fires of this crisis we derived
Compassionate creativity
As the ultimate free energy device.

One by one we got this simple math.
One by one we shed false faces to smirk en masse with anarchy's true mask
And at the denouement of this demonocratic social path
Surrounded on every side by zombie hordes cannibalizing the burnt-out husks of lives sucked dry by lord high vampire aristocrats
Whose own stone-cold souls were hollowed out in whole
By the madness of a massive pyramidal past
Of humans lashed together in manufactured masses
And bewitched
By the draconic dream of their very own personal power and privilege
A fantasy
By means of which the enriched were projected into existence
Through a social contract that now
Thrashed and twitched
In the frenzied blind crash of its death throws
As like bile in the beast's bloated belly, we rose
And blossomed in its mouth
Like lymphocyte white roses
Whose thorns of truth tore out through the terror that lies in its throat
With every word we spoke
And keyboard stroke
And soaring note
We invoked
A portal out of our world
For the wayward spirit of the wendigo.

For the dragon in its ruthless wisdom knew
When it was time to strike
But also
When it was time to go
And so
We flew out through its fangs
And away
On new wings of night
Flowing in the Great Sky River's light
Scattered up from the waves of the ocean it holds.
