The fashion industry is generally a soul vacuum.
This series of photos from this month's Italian Vogue seem to send a message that is both disturbing (desensitizing) and degrading (indoctrinating).

The subsequent blog comments about the photos are probably more disturbing than the fashion shoot.

It depends if this is a subtle critic of things to come or just another attempt to be "over the edge".
I am sure that for the fashion industry this oh so decadent because they would not be the ones to be arrested in the first place (at first :D)

This is obviously made to contrast the fashion world with something more sinister, it's not the first time a photographer uses this technique, as usual it's hard to read between the lines and know the true motivations.

It's a blured line between propaganda and provocation.
Interesting for me as an artistic concept because these kind of things can be used to make people think but without a commentary to explain the real issues, people will only see the first layer of meaning and forget about it.

And indeed, will this make people react and think or put glitter and gloss when they'll get arrested and beaten up ?

Given the target market, I think it's probable that the 'artist' was looking to be "over the edge". 'Like, uh, a police state is so hot...'

If you take a look at how many people gave 'positive' comments regarding the photo shoot, I think it's fair to say the programming is near complete.

I found the photos and comments quite appauling

It never struck me, until now, how much the fashion industry is 'into' violence. Maybe because I never bothered much with it, but Oh boy!

It looks like the fashion industry has moved from the idea of 'violence to self' (emaciated skeletons on the catwalk) to violence to others is 'cool'. It's pretty sick really.
