This is a statue I made when I lived with a truly crazy woman last winter and I used my time to withdraw myself from her, doing something useful. First it should be only a rudimentary framework for the clay, but as you can see, the details developed from the feet up into finer structures to the point where this statue stands for itself. The statue is made out of 1,5mm steel wire, 50cm high, bent by hand and brazed together.

It should be a representation of the struggle of my inner state, but some living details are missing because the wires are not an appropriate material to express the whole range, so you must imagine the missing details. The upper left hand should hold a flame, hovering in the air between the fingers. For this effect, the hand must have the size of a real hand because the effect of a flame “out of nowhere” needs a certain scale to work. The face looking at the flame, almost frantic while the muscles of the right hand convulse into a hard fist. The posture should be a reflection of the fire in his hand and he struggles with the energy of the flame which burns through him, while his mind is confused and riveted by the light. The fist is the expression of the exertion of force to become one with the fire.
I hope you like it.
Unfortunately, as I moved home again, the statue was destroyed and only the head and the hands are left.
