Stomach discomfort and spasms

The Living Force
More than three months ago I started with some pain in the area of the stomach. At first they were not very precise, it was in that whole area in general. Then they became more localized. It is approximately beside the navel, left side. It's annoying because when I sit I have also sporadic spasms in legs, arms and chest.
In these times I have done many studies (probably unnecessary): rays to see the column, two scans (the first was with contrast, to see the kidneys function), colonoscopy, endoscopy, ultrasonography, blood and urine tests (with culture). And the results were good. I still have to do a study, an MRI, but I do not know if already are too many studies in very short time. The only thing I notice is that bowel movements are perhaps somewhat different, depositions something finer, so maybe is a tightness in the small intestine. Could be a hernia?
The inconvenience continues in the same area. Has anyone had something that match with these symptoms?.

Sorry to hear that l apprenti, you have done already medical tests, which is good imo and to exclude some factors. Did you change something in this time period what could have caused it, i.e. stress some issues that bother you? In a sense that your body is saying no?

Thanks, Gawan.
Well, a stress issue, or enormous sadness, was the recent death of my father. But I do not think it's actually connected, since these physical discomfort began prior that.

Hello!

It does sound like a lot of medical tests, but if they suspect some sort of hernia and they think the MRI will finally clarify, then perhaps it is a good idea to do it.

It seems to me all events could be connected, even if indirectly. Sometimes people say they're not stressed, then markers that measure the autonomic nervous system show that they are indeed very stressed. Or often a trigger can be the last drop.

In any case, I'm glad you're sharing what you're going through. :flowers:

How is your diet these days? And how are YOU feeling?

Hi l apprenti de forgeron,

I condensed what you wrote about your symptoms and started googling around. After a while two tentative results emerged which may be helpful for you to nail it down:

1. pain to the left of the stomach could be related to an issue with the spleen, probably caused by an undisclosed underlying infection or something;

2. erratic muscle spasms may be a symptom of magnesium shortage.

Both possibilities can also be stress related, and may be interlinked as well -- like others already have stated.

I'm not a medic, so take this with plenty grains of salt, FWIW.

Hope you will get to the bottom of this ASAP. Speedy recovery! :hug2:

Thanks Gaby,
I'm taking the mourning as best I can, I think that within the vacuum that generates something like this, I am dealing with it acceptably. The problem are the memories that appear "out of nowhere" anytime, anywhere, and one get knocked down.

Also, since my father died I'm staying at my mother, making company to her and to my brother. And they to me, of course. But soon I will live alone again. About work, I can not complain (I am a state employee), there it's quiet routine. On food topic, I'm still respecting the daily rates of 70% fat and 30% meat protein, approximately. I think being in ketosis most of the time, but maybe not be so.
Next week I will take MRI study. I will tell you the outcome.

Thanks Palinurus for your research. It is good info. I take magnesium almost daily (more than 30 mg of citrate). In any case, I may need more.

Thanks again to both of you!.

My condolences on your father's passing, l apprenti de forgeron.

It could be that you may not feel the stress of it, but it is still a highly stressful event. If you are helping your mother and brother cope also, that is a tremendous drain too. You may want to add more vit C to your diet right now along with the magnesium. It may surprise you how much you may need. Just don't take the two together. They would have a pretty powerful clearing effect.

It's good you are able to talk about this.

My condolences for your father's passing away, I apprenti. I know how hard this can be ....

As to the diet, you might want to reduce protein a bit, as with 30% you are unlikely to be in ketosis. The recommended ratio is more like 15% protein vs 80% fat (the rest being carbs). Too much protein gets converted into carbs. Of course the alternative would be to measure the ketones in the blood to be sure.

This may help stabilize your mood and help with the process of grieving.

I apprenti de forgeron, you could try changing your dress style to something a little easier on the waistline such as : stop wearing belts in your trousers and use braces instead. It is easy to keep wearing clothes if you have put on a bit of weight and not notice the extra pressure on your waist.

Well, apparently the discomfort are caused by multiple mesenteric lymph (adenopathy) nodes that do not exceed 1 cm in diameter, so maybe it's mesenteric adenitis. Also, there are a few adenopathies in the left femoral inguinal. There is a hernia, but is irrelevant and should not be touched.
Probably need to take an antibiotic. My question is if that medication should be accompanied with 20 mg of doxycycline, or must be done separately?. Also if possible take doxycycline twice a day, one with each meal.
