Strange changes of the Forum pages...

The Living Force
I seem to be see some "general" line draw
mix-ups in table drawing, somewhat random.

It's possible this is due to my version of Firefox, but
I dunno. Has anyone else seen anything like what I
am seeing?

Thanks!
Dan

I don't see anything special. It is as usual.

I still see it.

Running FF v3.5.2

The the SOTT pages appears fine, but to me,
the forum pages are showing misplacement or
additional lines.

This problem showed up as of today as yesterday
and before was not a problem as far as I can remember.

Take a look at the the even pages, 2,4,6,8... do you
see anything?

Thanks!
Dan

Do not see anything special on even pages.

Everything is as usual for me.

I'm running the same version of FF - see no changes on my end, but if that changes, I'll let you know.

Hello dant,

It can be a browser cache problem that I experienced with Firefox in other occasions.
It can be said as a bug that the CSS file is confused when the cache is maximized or something.

Anyway, you can try the following procedure:
1. shift + refresh the page (means reload the page without caching and only this may fix the page sometimes)
2. empty the cache from the browser setting
3. shift + refresh or/and simply refresh the page again
If it does not fix your situation, it might be a different cause than this cause.

Hi dant,

I seem to be having a different problem sort of. When you hit the "Spell Check" after composing a post, I get a fully maximized "Spell Check" window. Even when I try to adjust it or use restore, it still comes back up as fully maximized. Otherwise everything else appears just the same at my end.

Using FF 3.5.2 as well

Doesn't Firefox automagically spell check while you are writing your post? It does for me...

Mine doesn't. I think it's because I've installed NoScript Addon. And although I've fully allowed Cassiopaea and Sott Net to execute scripts, somehow spell check still doesn't happen for me. I have to use the "Spell Check" button after composing every post.

Hi All... I too am running the latest version of FF and am having no troubles either. I do however clear up the cache and history and cookies and such every few days or so.

It does for me also ;)

Okay my spell check in FF is solved. What happened was I had enabled English/UK [en-gb] in Tools > Content > Languages. Apparently the Spell Check in FF only works with the standard English [en] as your chosen language. So I downloaded the British dictionary Addon for FF and now spell check works normally again.

Apologises dant, still doesn't solve your problem though.

Well, thanks for the feedback and it seems most
are not affected, only the few weird ones like me
and "Spock", no, no, it's just plain old me :P

I noticed that the problem has stopped now. Maybe
"Scotty" pulled a fast repair job on this one?

Joking aside...

Perhaps as others here say, it's probably the cache that
got messed up every once in awhile which is true.

Kind regards,
Dan

Alas - I was too quick to say the "problem went way'.

No, it's still there. Misplaced lines, (looks like a "strikeout")
both horizontal & vertically. Ah well, I'll live with it for now.

Yes, I have cleared the cache, no help.

dant,

Did you try "shift + refresh" the page?

If you can attached the screen-shot what you see, I (or/and someone else) may have some ideas what is going on.
Would you like to try that?

Since I am on a Fedora-11 system, I am not sure what "refresh" is.
Perhaps you mean on a windoes box, it is F5, but I don't think that
works for Fedora. I tried. What I have done however, is to:
Tools->Clear Recent History, checked all items, and ran it,
logged back into SOTT & Forums. That does not help. I get
these problems only on the forum pages. Seems everything
else appears ok, so far.

What happens is that these vertical/horizontal black lines
appear "offset" - they appear at random times when I
switch pages - and it is inconsistent, not always at the
place. In any case, I can live with it so as long as I can
read the pages - not a real hassle. Sometimes a "burr"
can be tolerated, so I'll live :)

Here is a snapshot, FWIW:

For the clarification, what I meant is 'refresh' button on the browser not on the keyboard (while 'shift' is on the keyboard).

Ok. Sorry for your inconvenience. :(

Edit: (addition) By looking at the snapshot, it is not the case what I thought of (CSS confusion case). I see only 2 vertical lines "off set" here but does not trigger any ideas of its possible root cause. Sorry.
