Directed by JJ Abrams (LOST) and produced by Steven Spielberg (this alone has me intrigued!) ;)

Here's the official summary:
In the summer of 1979, a group of friends in a small Ohio town witness catastrophic train crash while making a super 8 movie and soon suspect that it was not an accident. Shortly after, unusual disappearances and inexplicable events begin to take place in town, and the local Deputy tries to uncover the truth - something more terrifying than any of them could have imagined
While most people are led to believe Super 8 refers to the camera that apparently the kids in the trailer are using, someone on a forum i go to pointed out something interesting:
I think the media has it all wrong when it comes to speculation on this movie.
It's not about a camera.
Super 8 is a program the U.S. military invoked in with bio-genetics experts. 8 experts who were working on exo-genetic samples that were recovered from the Roswell, N.M. crash.
And also, Super 8 revolves around one man. Phil Schneider. Phil used to work at Area 51 and is responsible for building two of the main bases there.
Now back in 1979 there was a major incident that occurred there.

Was this a result on why they were moving things to Ohio??? Possible.
Another thing that's noticeable in the trailer is the railroad cars.

Could this be what they're referring too??? Maybe.
Now I usually take things with a grain of salt but I'm inclined to believe this is maybe what Abrams is basing his movie on. Not saying any of this is true, just saying that maybe this is the story Abrams is drawing his inspiration on.
One last thing about Phil. He's dead. Apparently it was suicide.
I'd never heard of this incident, but then again it wouldnt surprise me either.
Anyways, i'm intrigued by this one :)
