Taping lower back question

Guardian

The Cosmic Force
I went tubing with some friends yesterday, and either the water has gotten lower in the river, or my butt has gotten lower in the tube, or both ...regardless I banged my behind on several large rocks and today my lower back is killing me. DMSO is helping, but I still can't walk right. Had to go to the city today for stuff I can't get here, and I waddle walked the whole day :(

I'm looking at the taping manual ( http://laura-knight-jadczyk.com/Taping.djvu ) and trying to figure out which pattern to use ...page 65, 66, 67, 74, 75? Has anyone used the tape for lower lumbar/sacral pain that shoots down the outsides of both legs? If so, which pattern(s) did you use?

You can use several if need be. Just layer them. That's what I've done!

Thanks Laura...that's what I was wondering. The only downside to this plan is that if it's covered in tape, I can't put the DMSO on it :(

The way I was doing it when I had recurring pain neck was to spend 2-4 days with the tape, then remove it, spend one day without while I was putting DMSO several times, then shower to remove grease and put tape again, etc...

You can also take the DMSO internally while the tape is on. It really reduces inflammation. A teaspoon in half a glass of water on an empty stomach first thing in the morning, and then again 4 days later.

Nah, the rocks got bigger. ;)

I don't have any suggestions aside from what has been mentioned, but I hope you feel better soon!! :flowers:

That's an idea... I was thinking of wearing the tape during the day, then taking it off and putting on the DMSO at night. I have to shower at least once a day anyway.

Oops... I've been taking a teaspoon in apple juice once a day.

Yeah! That's it, the rocks got bigger ...not my butt. I like that theory! ;)

Thanks! I've got to get it fixed soon so I can go riding :D

Hi Guardian, did you have good results with the dmso/taping?

Oh gawd YES!! I am fast approaching the point where I no longer need a Halloween costume, I can just strip off my cloths and go as the multi-colored mummy :P

Awesome! I just bought some tapes because I was rear-ended and my girlfriend got whiplash and is going to physical therapy. Based on all the success stories with the tapes here, it looks like it's the best thing to try. I'm glad you're doing better, and thank the great cosmic mind for this network :)

Just curious, what kind of tape did you use? Or did you order it special? I can't find any in the local drugstores that is cloth and stretchy.

Dunno what Guardian went with, but I recently ordered this one from Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Kinesio-Tex-Tape-Resistant-Single/dp/B000FOXZI0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1287176770&sr=8-1

I got "Trufit Athletic tape" from a place called "Dick's Sporting Goods" It's about $16.00 for a 6 pack, and it comes in colors :)
