While I was visiting over Easter week-end, my relatives were watching FOX "news" Saturday evening. I rarely subject myself to TV, much less "news shows", so it was all the more unbearable to endure listening to a panel of rabid Bush supporters posing as journalists. One especially obnoxious character was a journalist named Rabinowitz who launched into a self-righteous tirade against Rosie O'Donnell in a way that exemplified classic psychopathic style.
Projecting her own defects onto Rosie, this woman referred to Rosie's "psychopathic rantings" and feigned shock that Rosie could imply that "somehow, our President had something to do with the collapse of Building Seven" and even "accused him of war crimes!" I could barely stomach listening to the melodrama as this psychopathic woman attempted to impersonate legitimate human emotional reactions. She certainly over-acted the script by coming across as if she were utterly unable to even conceive that an elected politician might be capable of lying or treachery.
But my main point is, that Ms. Rabinowitz's fangs were aimed thusly: She attempted to express concern for Barbara Walters, but it sounded more like a veiled threat to me as she said something like "after her long, illustrious career, I'd sure hate to see Barbara Walters' career end on such a note." (I didn't realize Barbara's job was on the line).
In a fitting conclusion, Ms. Rabinowitz offered some sage, paramoralistic, genuine-fake compassionate guidance:
Barbara Walters ought to do like Oprah Winfrey did when she confronted author, James Frey awhile back.
Ms. Rabinowitz's muddying of the water is crystal clear. You see the twisted parallels, don't you astute reader? :
James Frey deceived Oprah, for his own gain, by promoting fiction, posed as facts, in his memoir.
Rosie has spoken the truth, at great risk to herself, by exposing fiction, posed as fact, in the government's cover-up.
