This is a teen science fiction book that I picked up at my children's school library that I thought had a very interesting premise. Here's part of the description on the back cover:
"When the tail of the comet Bhaktul flicks through Earth's atmosphere, deadly particles are left in its wake. Suddenly, mankind is confronted with a virus that devastates the adult population. Only those under the age of eighteen seem to be immune."
I've read the whole book and basically some forward thinking scientist create a team of teenagers and a spaceship that takes a 5 year journey to travel to a more habitable planet in order to continue the lineage of the human race. Nothing else in the book really jumped out at me other than the part about the comet's tail that loads earth's atmosphere with a deadly pathogen. No specifics are really given on the mechanism of how the pathogen works or anything but I still find it very interesting that someone somewhere has accessed this interesting information and has nonchalantly spread it out to the teenage population in a fiction novel. It left me wondering about the possibility of an agenda of sorts...
