The Comet's Tale

I just started watching this documentary. So far it seems pretty okay.

It was interesting how this one researcher speculated that 'King Arthur' might actually have been a comet! Maybe that's a little bit far fetched, or, who knows...

The whole thing is now on YouTube, too: _http://youtu.be/kGKgNPpWh7c

Good to see Mike Bailey and Mark Bailey getting some coverage. However, the narrative clings to the fanciful notion that direct asteroid impacts are our number one concern, referring to "the last time that happened, 65 million years ago". And this despite earlier describing the 540 AD event as "global in nature".

The show ends with a discussion of what is being done to monitor and possibly deflect large bodies.

They have no clue that it is largely unseen 'meteor smoke' and what wafts down with it that could kill us all.

It seems fairly comprehensive, though it sticks to the dirty snowball model and perhaps doesn't emphasize enough the danger of a large number of comet fragments and rubble hitting the earth, osit. (Just a small section about the world wide event in 540 AD).

I watched it yesterday. As usual, with out agenda MSM doesn't do any useful video. They accepted some theories ( comets as gods, arthur possibly as comet figure etc) peoples are shouting for a while debunking some. Biggest casualty of this video is discrediting the foreign origin of the red rain in Kerala, India. They can talk million things but they won't touch the electrical universe theory.

Exactly! And that's why they will never understand what comets really are and what they really do. For all our technology and technical language to describe the universe, the ancients had a better grasp of comets and celestial activity in general.

I wasn't sure where to post this so a mod may have to move it. I just switched on the telly & this BBC4 documentary just started. I don't know if it's new or not but i'm thinking that it is because they're talking about things found in HoM & other stuff such as king Arthur as a comet with observations from Genghis Kahn, Newton etc via their texts. This MIGHT be repeated although if it's close to reality then it'll disappear or be randomly repeated at an ungodly hour. I hope the UK members will catch this as my recorder is on the blink, if i can take enough info i'll post back.

Hi H-KQGE,
is it related to the one described here? http://cassiopaea.org/forum/index.php/topic,28380.0.html

Yep, I think so:

Yes it's the same one. The intro is what threw me starting off with the Arthur thing & more. Am watching it now & the narrator's saying that comets pose no threat & its vapour is more like cigarette ash! Apologies for this.

According to this page: _http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b008d2x7/broadcasts they first broad-casted this back in 2007 on Sunday, November 25.

The current broadcast would be the 12th time they air it and there also will be two more repeats soon:

Sun 4 Aug 2013 01:05 BBC Four

Thu 8 Aug 2013 00:00 BBC Four

Yes those upcoming dates/times are correct, i checked my EPG (every programme guide) which told me that it had likely been on air a fair few times back when Kniall last posted about it.
The BBC do this a lot with some programmes & neglect others.
So, 2007 you say? Well just before the stock market crash (i think it was triggered then & then it slowly rippled through to January/February osit) which is 6 years ago, (ish) & there's 1 around the corner, maybe the end of the year? They tend to send out these messages in the media (& for all those who never played modern video games you wouldn't believe how much they've put out there in plain sight - i was shocked) when something is looming.
Of course i'm localizing this to the UK & the topic of the BBC as i only ever paid mild attention to their programming- in every sense of the word, but i'll be on guard for the signs more because after all, they are still a national institution. Thanks for the heads up.

Just to clarify, according to the link-

http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcfour/programmes/schedules/2013/08/07

the programme will be aired on Wednesday night, midnight, 7th August, and not Thusday August 8th at midnight

Well spotted, treesparrow! Thanks for clarifying and signaling and bringing us up to date with this one. :)
