The Disappearance (Abduction?) of Nancy Guthrie

I haven't seen anything regarding the disappearance/possible abduction of Nancy Guthrie, who is the mother of Today Show host Savannah Guthrie. MSM has been following the disappearance and publishing updates on the ongoing investigation being conducted by the FBI. The Wikipedia article I just linked to is a pretty decent timeline of events as far as I know, if you're unfamiliar with the case.

I've been following the news about this only very loosely, but a few things have stood out to me as odd and/or interesting about the case and the people involved/affected:

1. Savannah Guthrie conducted an exclusive interview with Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre in 2019, following Epstein's alleged suicide. The interview, according to this article, is mentioned a few times in the Epstein files.
2. Nancy Guthrie appears to have been pretty left-leaning and was recently posting anti-ICE content on her social media.
3. A couple of ransom notes have been received requesting Bitcoin be sent to a crypto wallet, which has had one transaction in an undisclosed amount so far
4. The surveillance video from the security camera was able to be retrieved by the security company, despite the fact that Guthrie did NOT have a subscription to the company and therefore the footage was not supposed to be preserved.
5. The Guthrie family's videos (here and here) seem strange to me. I am no expert on human communication and psychology, but I think I can read people decently, and these people appear disingenuous. I won't speculate on where this perceived insincerity comes from, at least not yet.

I think the biggest thing that's pinging my tinfoil hat is the fact that Fox News, who could barely contain their disgust at the likes of ICE-shooting victims Renee Good and Alex Pretti, are constantly sharing updates and are including a Nancy Guthrie Tip Line in the bottom banner of their broadcast. I haven't noticed them speak to Guthrie's apparent anti-Trump/anti-ICE stance, which seems strange considering their typical partisan spin.

My off-the-wall conspiracy theory (which is based solely on the above info, my wild imagination, and my inherent distrust of those in power) is that this is all a psyop meant to push us into surveillance state territory. The thing that got my gears spinning initially was when I listened to a Fox anchor say, off the cuff and without pausing to let it sink in, "It sounds like even though she wasn't subscribed to the service, the video camera company was able to access the video data on a backup." (Not a direct quote, just paraphrasing based on memory.) To me, the delivery felt purposefully innocuous, like I was supposed to hear it but not truly register it, thereby obtaining my passive consent.

This observation was noted by an X account and is purely speculative on Twitter.

WHAT TO KNOW

  • Early Wednesday morning, a man detained in connection to Nancy Guthrie's disappearance was released without charges. The Pima County Sheriff's Department announced Tuesday that deputies had detained a subject during a traffic stop south of Tucson and was questioning the subject in connection to the Guthrie investigation. Authorities have not yet officially named a suspect or person of interest.
  • Carlos Palazuelos told Fox News that he was the person detained for questioning during the traffic stop but that he had nothing to do with the case. He said he makes deliveries in the Tucson area and that investigators asked him about his recent whereabouts. He said authorities showed his in-law a picture of someone wearing a mask and "they supposedly looked like my eyes."
  • Hours before the detention, the FBI released previously inaccessible doorbell camera images and videos. The footage shows a masked individual wearing gloves and a backpack tampering with the front door camera at Nancy Guthrie's Tucson home around the time she vanished on Feb. 1.
  • Overnight, investigators executed a court-authorized search at a property in Rio Rico, Arizona, located about 60 miles south of Tucson near the Mexico border. The FBI’s Evidence Response Team assisted local deputies in searching the location for clues. The Pima County Sheriff's Department said it concluded its search of the property early Wednesday.
