The Edge of Tomorrow

I recently watched The Edge of Tomorrow;

And think it might be a candidate for 6D injection of 4D concepts into the 3D subconscious.. I was quite surprised, as I was expecting it to be not much more informative than "Starship Troopers".

Essentialy, beginning with the fall of meteors, earth is invaded by "the perfect planet-invading lifeform". There are many millions of "infantry" aliens for every "commander" alien. They seem to know what will happen, and it is discovered that they have the ability to reset time each day and start over.

When the main character (Tom Cruise) kills one of the "commander" types, he gets the alien's blood in his blood, and acquires the ability to reset time also. So long as he dies each day, he can start again a la Groundhog Day, eventualy having visions of the Alien's nerve centre, which turns out to be false. Then he sets about determining the real location of the "Queen mother" alien, having lost the ability to reset due to a blood transfusion, and uses surprise to achieve his mission. Earth is saved.

So, an invading alien lifeform which can reset time, appearing out of the soil much like a 4d entity appearing in 3d, but lacks imagination and ultimately loses to humanity due to our ability to be creative, and because we have the alien's blood and thus their power.

Has anybody else seen the movie?

I got to thinking how the idea of living again and again and again with the same purpose in mind, having to accept when the body was no longer able to continue and having the task of dying in order to start again .. is much like the situation we find ourselves in here on earth.

The main character re-experiences the same day over and over, with all lives happening in a paralell moment. We inject ourselves back into history or the future over and over, with some lives working out better than others, but all ultimately contributing to the learning essential for success.

It reminded me of the C's comment (I believe in a recent manuscript) that if we think we will get to 4D and have nothing further to do with 3D earth, we are mistaken.

Perhaps it will become our job to go backwards and forwards in time, consciously, in 4D, making sure the lizard's wishful thinking remains just that; wishful thinking. Perhaps the key is in our pre-lizard dna as well as our newer post lizard dna.

Thought provoking.

I have watched it. It felt like an alien/sci-fi action version of Groundhog Day. I can tell where it was going but found the ending to be weak.

I was confused about the title being first to be All You Need Is Kill, then Edge of Tomorrow, and finally Live Die Repeat.

But, I found it interesting that it was filming as the same time as X-Men: Days of Future Past (where a "consciousness" of a character goes back in time). It is also as if "time loop" or "time travel" is getting attention in recent years. (Timecrimes in 2007, Triangle in 2009, Repeaters in 2010, 12 Dates of Christmas in 2011, Source Code in 2011, Looper in 2012, About Time in 2013, AM 11:00 in 2013, etc.).

Just watched this movie yesterday. As a piece of entertainment it was great, but more than this I thought it was a terrific explication of the learning of lessons and having to repeat them until one gets it - all in a sci-fi context that resonates with many ideas here. If you haven't seen it, recognizing the parallels with what we discuss here, ie. time loops, fighting 4d sts, character-building and growth, will just make it a delicious movie-going experience. And I agree, the filmmakers had to have been picking up stuff from 'somewhere'. There were simply too many cool correspondences. I highly recommend it.

Hey, don't knock Starship Troopers! ;) It may have been cheesy as France, but it was supposed to be (satire), and it was a great commentary on fascism.

hmn, i'm quite curious about this film, but never have a chance to watch it. Maybe i give it a go :)

I saw this movie a few months ago.

I enjoyed it but felt that it was a bit too extreme, that to "win" demanded perfection, that of the main character who repeats things until perfection, as the enemy was too strong to defeat face to face.

As Ennio and others mentioned, if we look at this as symbolism, it makes sense that the theme was to repeat mistakes over and over until we "get it".

But still, after reading Thirty Years Among the Dead, I am a bit annoyed and confused that our own reincarnation does not give us a memory of our past mistakes to learn from. At least Tom Cruise's character in the movie had memory of past experiences.... we do not. It just makes me remember that the C's said how once we are in 4d, there WILL BE an even playing field. Right now as it stands, it is not, in fact seems stacked against STO principles.

Just finished watching this movie and also found it very thought provoking... for a Hollywood/Tom Cruise film it was great.

Thought provoking.

I was thinking along those lines, except for me it expressed how important it is to wake up each day in this life with an aim in mind.

Would recommend :)

I haven't seen it yet, but will probably check it out now. I've been a fan of good sci-fi, but these days it's just too much of a waste of money to sort through the cruddy ones out there to find a good one. So thanks for pointing this one out and for everyone chiming in with some good reviews.

I watched the movie couple of weeks back and felt it as OK.

It looked to me that the concept is Hollywood cheesy version of the novel "replay"(mentioned in the sessions) released in early 90's.

A: Time travelers, therefore, "Time is ongoing."

Q: (L) Okay, recently I read a couple of books Jan gave me, "Knight in Shining Armor" and "Replay". Both of these books described time travel.

A: No, not finished with answer. Do you understand the gravity of last response?

Q: (L) They are time travelers, they can move forward and backward in time, they can play games with our heads... (T) They can set up the past to create a future they want. (D) They can organize things so that they can create the energy that they need... (L) They can also make things look good, make them feel good, make them seem good, they can make you have an idea one minute, and then the next minute, create some sort of situation that confirms that idea...

A: When you asked how long, of course it is totally unlimited, is it not?
Wiki says movie is based on 2004 Japanese novel. Hard to figure out who picked it up from where. Time loop, having few other people who were also time loopers to figure out the way out, gradually changing the choices, thus changing the outcomes are common in both the "replay" novel and movie.

Some scenes reminded me of other popular movies. When aliens dash towards hero in Paris scene looked like Matrix's machines rushing towards Neo's ship and the concept of centralized power source of aliens looked like 'Independence day' movie. What C's said regarding 'Independence day' movie is interesting.
1996-9-21
Q: (L) All right, last week, when we shut down for the night we had asked a question about the movie ID4, Independence Day, and we were told to ask further questions about this, so that gives us a clue that there might be something significant there. Does anybody remember what the question was that I asked? (T) Is there any significance to the ID4 movie?
A: Sure.
Q: (L) What was the primary intention of the makers of this movie? The primary message that they attempted to convey?
A: Infuse thinking patterns with [planchette swirled a few times here] concept of aliens.
Q: (L) They intended to infuse thinking patterns with concept of aliens... was there any particular slant on aliens, per se, that was seen as desirable in the making of this movie?
A: Slant?
Q: (L) Slant, in other words, did they wish to present them inaccurately to confuse people, to present them as something to be feared and fought against, or to make them appear so completely erroneous, so that when actual aliens do appear, that they will not be perceived as negative?
A: Infuse.
Q: (L) Infuse. Just the concept, the concept of aliens in general. OK...
A: Part of a larger project.
Q: (L) And what is this project?
A: Called "Project Awaken."
Q: (L) And who is behind, or in charge of, this project?
A: Many.
Q: (L) Who are the primary group, groups or individuals? I'm sure you're not going to give us individuals, but just the grouping.
A: Thor's Pantheum.
Q: (L) And what is Thor's Pantheum?
A: Sub-select trainees for transfer of enlightenment frequency graduation.
Q: (L) What is enlightenment frequency graduation?
A: Think!
Q: (L) Enlightenment frequency graduation... so, sub-select trainees...
A: Self explanatory.
Q: (L) Well, is this group STS or STO?
A: Both.
