we decided to create a new thread (http://cassiopaea.org/forum/index.php?topic=22986.msg250487#msg250487)
because Google Video will be closed on 29 April (as far as I know? maybe earlier?) !

maybe it would be sharp to just post videos that are importand.
so no nonsensical videos.
maybe some videos are olso available on youtube, so those are not of interest to save. those that are only on google video are the ones to look out !

we don't know how to archive them so far. but we just can start to bring them up and see than how to manage this.

If you want I can start an List were the videos are included that should be saved, but I think it would be better when a moderator would do this.

Edit: time left
more detailed information

List of videos that have to be saved:

there are certainly some on google video that are not on youtube I would guess ?

I have an old-standing blog that hasn't been updated for yonks but has loads of stuff. Much of it was later discussed by the group like Century of The Self, etc.

Rending The Veil

You may find it useful as a guideline.

I'm going to start early tomorrow and will post here which vids are saved. You know, I have a server on the net - can always create a site with these. It might not last long but at least I tried to hold up the sky....

This is friggin' disturbin' - how can they do that? This is like the best video library of the century!

No, mate - the videos will start getting deleted on 29 April 2011 - or earlier. Look at this one:

There is little time left! This just sorta happened, too - and was tricky to spot, I think.

Google BASTARDS!

Hmm, this sounds serious and sad at one time, I will check my bookmarks tomorrow and see if they are anywhere else available.

is there a way (a tool maybe?) to see which videos on google are not available on youtube olso ?

I mean then it would be much easier to search the videos that have to be saved.
because many videos on google video are olso available on youtube. but certainly some are only on google !

that's an idea to look into.
I'm no expert in servers and this kind of stuff. in fact I know little about it and how it works

Quote Google:

On May 13, 2011 videos that have been uploaded to Google Video will no longer be available for playback. We’ve added a Migrate to YouTube link to the Video Status page, which will allow you to easily migrate your video to a linked YouTube account. In addition, we’ve added a Download link, so you can download any video content you want to save. If you don’t want to download your videos, you don’t need to do anything. (The Migration and Download features will be disabled after May 27, 2011.)

"Meetings With Remarkable Men" (the 1979 movie) is available in 11 parts on youtube. But 11 parts? That's what I liked about google videos, it was continuous. :(

So many bookmarks to go over.

If you play the videos on youtube as a playlist then they automatically switch to the next one in the series so it is like having one continuous video. ;)

I found some lectures from Richard Dolan:
