The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel pie Society. (Now playing on Netflix)

A romance.

Post WWII England / Guernsey

A mystery slowly unfolds

How a group survives under occupation, food shortages, and totalitarianism

Good groups are not all good, and bad groups not all bad

Odd kind of past life feeling that you belong here, and know these people

Tragedy with happy ending, heart warming

I just watched it and recommend it.

Trailer:

I read the book and I love it. It has British humor and at the same time it is a book about resilience. Also about war and the human condition. The story is made of letters between people. And it is a time travel to the past in that little island where they suffered but where they had a club book! I did not see the movie but it is better to read the book before!

I just watched this now after seeing a recommendation for it on Time Out
"This comfy period romance should be a firm favourite with fans of ‘The Dig’ and films in which Tom Courtenay makes a fairly niche-looking pie out of a root vegetable (a small subgenre, admittedly). Lily James stars as novelist who goes on a journey of discovery to the Channel Islands that involves some long-buried wartime secrets and at least one dashing farmer (Michiel Huisman). A gentle watch with a unquenchable romantic spirit."
I had been serching for a Good Rom Com and found this one.
I thought it was very well put together and loved the kind of similarity between the current Corona War on the people that we are living in. So this film was welcome entertainment to relax to.
