I am very behind it would seem. I don't really watch much TV ever, and although I have heard of "Honey Boo Boo" , I never really looked into it nor did I have an exact idea of what it was.

Sunday night there was a flurry of posts from the few people that I am facebook friends with that still live in my hometown. Honey Book evident;ly comes on at 9 pm on Sundays. The family of "Honey Boo Boo" lives one county over from where I grew up. Heck, my son's paternal grandparents still live in McIntyre ,GA where the show is filmed There were many posts of how great it was that "They were keeping it real" and how " You better Redneckognize" and how great it was that there was a family on TV that were like how life really is that I had to go and satisfy my curiosity.

I am stunned, sickened, humiliated, and feel so very bad for that little girl. It is the very worst of everything I grew up around. They have the child addicted to " Go Go Juice' which is a mega caffeine energy mixture- I have a clip of it with Dr Drew I will post below.

The potty humor is relentless and the manners non existent. This seems to be a very popular show. I just have no words to express how appalled I am.

I have heard of this as well and I had a pretty good concept for what it was....it's hard to find words.

I watched the two clips and I don't think I could take anymore of it...I think a proper tagline for the show would be:
'If you still have faith in humanity, watch this!'

It's actually more than disgusting. I read today that her mother is forcing her to eat tons of junk food to make her even fatter. Seems she'd lost some weight recently, and the show's popularity (so her mother says) is based on her being "fat" so fruits and vegetables have been banned from the house, and she's not even allowed outside to play in case physical activity would cause her to lose weight.

Poor, unhealthy kid. :(

Funny, I had watched this clip earlier- "skettti" , butter, and ketchup- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KswWfq2drCM

The sad part of this is that is pretty standard down there. I grew up eating coke and doughnuts for breakfast most everyday. My Nana taught me that doughnuts were healthy- they had flour, eggs, and milk in them. :cry: Vegetables did not exist most times. Soda and sweet tea were food groups, for the most part. :scared:

When I lived in America, I remember a little kid told me how to know when pasta was done by throwing it to a ceiling - I was surprised that she started throwing food around!
Now I cannot believe that the mother is doing in the same thing in this video :shock:

It is very shocking to know that TV shows like this is normal nowadays. It is making me sick by watching it ... and sad :cry:

It’s common maybe not to this extreme and publicizes as much. But if someone of power like a parent or coach or boss is influenced by publicity, money or what have you they do what’s in their egos best interest to keep "The show" going and buffer their thoughts and actions thinking that it is in the kids best interest and cant stop to think. Maybe if someone could get the moms predator to stop for a few seconds talk some sense into her have her try EE :rolleyes: yea right in my experience trying to talk to these people when they are focus on themselves, there ego and doing whatever it is they have to do to keep "the show" going is like climbing up a never ending mountain. The mother her friends and their family watch the show probably all think its great and the mom and others involved get a high off all the publicity that it would probably feel like the world ending if the show stopped so they do what’s necessary to keep it going at whatever cost. Yes this show is awful but this stuff happens on smaller scales everyday around the world this is just the most recent popular version IMO

This is really repulsive. Her mother is a monster. And the little girl... It is really sad to see her. I am unable to continue to look at her. I feel a nausea, an intellectual nausea. Because this is degradation of a child. But this is tv. I am so happy not to have tv anymore.

I don't think they are "popular" strictly speaking. The majority of people watching it are shocked, outraged, or can't fathom why this is being shown. And yet, this gives the viewers an opportunity to feel better about themselves by comparison, which may explain a certain appeal. The paradox with this show and similar personalities such as Snooki and the Kar-"trash"-ians (who are made to appeal to a higher income bracket in the same exact way), is that they are laughingstock and total screw-ups. The most common comment to yet another piece of news about them is, "why are we reading about this? who cares?" But even when we say their names just to pray for them to go away, they collect royalties and laugh all the way to the bank. It's the darnedest thing.
 
Is this drugging new normalcy ?. Sickening :evil:. As long as the viewers believe thinks their view matters in program broadcasting when it is not, this crap becomes much much worse.
 
Hildagarda - Yes I agree should change most popular to most publicized - Like you stated for these people any publicity is good publicity wether it be negative or positive
