The interaction of UVB Radiation and DNA

A Disturbance in the Force
I never bought into the whole sunblock campaign, something about it just didn't feel right. In the last decade or so, an awful lot of effort has been made to convince people that the sun's radiation is bad for us... hmmmm, why?

I always wondered, why does my body crave the sun? After a period of sun deprivation (winter), why does it feel so correct, when I can feel my skin physically sucking in the sun's radiation?
Why do we glow with health after being in the sun? It's also as interesting to note that our body also tells us when we've had enough.

So my question is what is the direct connection and/or process of the sun's radiation to our DNA and overall health? and a follow up question, what's with the sunblock campaign-is it related?

Hello ooglyboogly, seeing that this is his first intervention, I make an invitation to you to present in the section of rookies, can you tell us how you find this forum, readings with which you are familiar.

as for your question, which always I have in mind, the relationship of the sun and vitamin D, this is obtained by exposure to sunlight, also sunlight controls the body's internal clock regulating the circadian cycle of 24 hours of light and darkness, and other more here in the forum can use the search option and find something more :)

Hello ooglyboogly :welcome: to the forum and don't forget to introduce yourself and the Newbies section

Thanks guys, first off I am female.
I have been a member of the forum for quite sometime, I couldn't remember which email I used or password...so I rejoined.
I am very aware of the effect of solar radiation in the human body and what it does.

Just to clarify and I'll cut to the chase. There has been an ongoing campaign to get people out of the sun, with this completely unfounded claim that it's dangerous and deadly. I'm not buying it...almost every person that I know is afraid to expose their skin to the sun without copious amounts of sunblock. Half of them have had melanomas and more often than not - the melanomas are located in areas on the body that have barely been exposed to sun. Almost all of these people are severely deficient in Vitamin D, they have problems sleeping and oddly many of them are suffering from one autoimmune disorder or another.

I am beginning to get very suspicious of this anti sun campaign. This is a relatively new fad in the health industry and something is very wrong. People are getting sick and dying at an exponential rate. People are completely oblivious to the fact that the human body requires Solar radiation in order to function properly.

You might be interested in searching for articles on SOTT. There have been several in the last few years about the importance of getting sunlight for vitamin D and many other reasons. Also the best times to be in the sun to maximize UVB exposure to convert cholesterol to vitamin D (and minimize sunburn), etc. There does seem to be a disinformation campaign about sun exposure. There have been studies showing lack of vitamin D is more dangerous, including for cancer / skin cancer, than risk of sunburn from plenty of sun exposure. But one still needs to be careful in southern areas because of the ozone layer hole - I've gotten burned pretty quickly when at southern latitudes in the last 15 to 20 years, whereas I'd be out in the sun all day in the summer (in northern latitudes) l when I was a kid and never got sunburn.
