The most hated family in america

I'm just watching a program on BBC2:

Louis Theroux: the Most Hated Family...

Wed 4 Apr, 11:20 pm - 12:20 am 60mins

...in America

A new film from Louis sees him struggle to come to terms with the infamous Phelps family from Topeka, Kansas, who picket the funerals of soldiers killed in Iraq as a protest against an America that tolerates homosexuality.

The family members - some as young as six years old - wave slogans with messages such as 'Thank God for 9/11' and 'God Hates You' at pickets all over the States.

The last documentary filmmaker to enter their world was so enamoured by the family that he joined them. What does the future hold for Louis as he meets one of the USA's most controversial families? Some strong languge. [AD,S]
Some of these people are wearing T shirts with "THESIGNSOFTHETIMES.NET" PRINTED ON THEM!!
Tried, but can't get on the website. It finnishes in 5 mins.

I only cought about ten minutes of it as my missus watches tv, she happened to turn over and saw the T shirts and told me.
Found a video showing them:

I saw it a few nights back. It was heart-wrenching seeing that little girl at the roadside, and being asked whether she actually knew what the signs meant... not a clue and it's funny, Shirley Phelps actually seemed kinda surprised by that; it was a pretty embarrassing - though somewhat relieving for a normal person - revelation for her it seemed. The slightly older boy didn't really know either; he was just towing the family line, using the words and not understanding the meaning. Probably not feeling the meaning either, that's battered out of them by that monstrous creature of a mother and grandfather. I mean, those people even look hideous as if reflecting their inner nature.

At one point, Louis Theroux was interviewing one of the daughters in her car, asking questions about her getting married and falling in love. I don't know about anyone else, but I really got a sense with her that she had some semblence of a conscience underneath, and it had her in a battle with her self. Louis caught onto that it seemed, but he was constantly met with this brick wall of indoctrination. Tears were welling up in her eyes, I'm sure of it...

*shudder* To think of those children around that cold, slimy "creature on the second floor" Fred Phelps just makes my skin crawl!

If you want to see it, somebody uploaded the whole programme - in clips - onto YouTube. Just search the title.

I would advise not going to their web site and do any investigating at all. I just watched one video and my whole body, inside and out, aches.

I wonder why there is so much coverage on this family ?
I can't almost believe that they still go on spreading their "message".

That disturbed me as well.

In fact the name of the website is different now, it's quite a despicable website name and I won't write it down in here.

Why so ?
Ok it's not necessary to absolutely go there and see how hatefull these people are but it is a fine example of Schizoid psychopathy, reverse thinking and cult mentality.
Not for the faint hearted though.

The dark must be looked at as well as the light notanothermonday, although sickenning it is.
The thing I thought of was that by wearing those T shirts and spouting all that rhetoric and bile, it could put the seeds of a connection to their beliefs by someone who may see any merchandise or sign or link pointing to Cass. They won’t notice the ‘net’ bit at the end and other differences, they’ll just notice the words association and at the back of their mind they’ll switch off and think “hmm, signs of the times = cult.ᾠ

It seems like too much of a coincidence. Could there be a hidden helping hand from cointelpro in there somewhere?

I had that impression too.
Louis Theroux's documentaries are pretty well known so I suppose I lot of persons have been watching it.

that was my initial thought upon reading the first thread. Could the whole purpose of the event be to implant associations of SOTT with 'religious nut bags' (as is written in the description on the site posted by Peam) - looked liked deliberate camera focusing on the back tshirt imprint. Highly dubious.

edit: just checked out their website. it looks like a deliberate attempt to create a highly offensive website to catch any people searching for SOTT and to put them off.

I caught this documentary when it aired on Sunday. Scary stuff. The head of the church is a real wolf and made no bones about it, a nasty piece of work. It was so sad to see how they got their young children involved in the picketing, it was sick actually. Having a five year old girl holding a board with the slogan "God Hates Fags" while at a funeral for a young guy killed in Iraq was....well I've got no words for it. Another young kid got hit with a plastic drinks cup thrown from a car.

Theroux didnt mince his words but these people were soo brainwashed it was impossible to get through to them - any logical challenge was beaten down with a pre-programmed response. There message was essentially "God hates everyone except our small church, you all (inlcuding other churches) are going to hell when the rapture starts", what was reinforcing their ideas was the fact that everyone hated them for their messages of hate so in a twisted way they believe they are right because everyone hates them!

"Priests Rape Boys" was another of their most used slogans, they even had one about Princess Diana, calling her a dead whore for "supporting fags".

What was very interesting was the fact that they are BLATANTLY anti-semitic, they picketed synagogues (Jew Churches as they called them) for "the Jews killing Jesus", when Louis pointed out that Jesus was Jewish himself, he got a "No, Jesus is God" response. Go figure. The majority of the church members are lawyers, which probably helps a lot.

The signs of the times url did curiously get a lot of camera time, maybe it was a conditon the church placed upon giving the documentary, mabye it was a calculated move by the government-owned BBC to muddy SOTT, who knows.

the website's existance reminds me of the book of ToTH thread where there was mention of an evil website set up to parody the orginal site. Perhaps they were doing a reconnaissance mission?. It is flattering but also alarming that SOTT's name is being used in association. It implies a great number of parties involved and a great deal of resources to muddy SOTT (thanks Barry for the term). In light of recent 'energy draining threads' and infiltration, it could all be connected. Perhaps there is a team of anti-SOTT sitting in a room somewhere plotting their next attact. Vigilance is in order. It represents an opportunity to gain positive publicity but needs kiddie gloves handling not to fall victims.

looking up in whois, the church registered the name, perhaps it is just coincidence?

Man that is the sickest thing I have ever seen, those people are actually evil, like in the truest sense of the word. What kind of person pickets at a funeral? That is just wrong. That poor family had to endure those vile people while they were mourning, it just turns my stomach.

Evil? Subjective. They probably believe they are serving some subjective "good," like most people who commit acts that, objectively, harm others. Personally, I'm peeved that they could be hated more than the Bush gang who are responsible for a million violent deaths, ruining two countries and bankrupting a third. Yet, we see that they are encouraged by millions of their countrymen to keep the blood spurting.

I wouldn't want their karma, that's for sure....

and i'm not surprised at all that they're muddying the SOTT name, and i don't really mind either. Perhaps some will see the dictomy, maybe an article about it would even be called for, something along the lines of "SOTT Threatens PTB so much we have our own hate group" or something.

I found his website years ago, the godhates(blah).com page, it's kinda sad how ignorant these people are, it's also obvious they're just tools for the 4D STS to induce hardcore negative emotions among those they interact with. I remember how i felt parousing their website, being 'not-straight' it felt personal.

Luckily after reading the 4th way stuff it's evident their just petty tyrants, ensy weensy petty tyrants at that, and the louder they scream and more damage their due to their own souls, those that have them anyway. It's important not to let them arouse negative thoughts/actions, but just 'feel' the emotion that their actions cause, burn with it, and understand that their clouded in ignorance that only some of them can free themselves from.
