Overcoming the conspiracy against Palestine

Reading this article today, I begun thinking about the “Cyprus problem" and the “Palestinian problem" , the sad stories behind them, the conditions that currently prevail in each country. You see, when an army intrudes a country, confiscates the land of the people, kills the people and imprisons them, suddenly the whole sum of the people killed, imprisoned, kicked off their houses, become a “problem" ! What a sad joke! And pathocrats treat that nation of people as a “pain in the ass" . The same pathocrats that instituted the orders for the murdering of the people, their imprisonment, the taking of their land. “How dare you little people to demand your rights, to talk of freedom and raise up your voice to me! You should be grateful I spared the life of the rest of you!"

Ah, this anger I feel today! You see today at 5:30 am, the sirens woke me up. 33 years ago to this day, to this time, the Turkish army was illegally invading the island of Cyprus. They started by bombing via sea and air, the area of Kyrenia (Northern Cyprus, closer to Turkey). And I swear, after all those years, one doesn’t get used to this sound, might even get up and run to the window to check the skies with the heart beating like crazy, only if briefly, until they realize the date, until they realize that everyone else is sound asleep in their houses.

But not in Palestine. There, the sirens mean the prospect of death for those hearing them. In Palestine, the children recognize this sound as soon as they start to recognize anything in their environment. They are a daily occurrence for them, weekly at best. But it doesn’t stop there: they know the other sound that follows. That of bombing. Those Cypriots that left their houses in a hurry 33 years ago, never to see them again, know this sound too. The huge blasts that come from an unknown destination, to land to an unknown destination. And the little Palestinian children put their little hands over their small ears curling up in some corner. Will this bomb strike them this time? Will this bomb destroy their house, kill their mother, father, sisters, brothers, friends? And every time - because the I"D"F and the Israeli government is waging a genocide against all Palestinians - people do die, houses are being destroyed, whole families are being murdered. Can any of us even imagine living this daily? I can’t imagine even that any person can ever get used to the sound of the sirens and the sound of the bombs falling heartlessly to destroy their lives.

Try to see your life in your mind, everything that comprises that life you know… and now… boom! And nothing is left.

Palestine is so close to here, but sometimes so far away…

And here, for 33 years now, every 20th of July, we wake up to the sound of the sirens, but we never truly wake up on this island. Why there isn’t resistance in Cyprus like there is in Palestine? Oh, the answer is so simple: it is by design that there IS resistance in Palestine, and there IS NOT in Cyprus. In Palestine, the Israel’s plan is to kill all Palestinians. So they need the Palestinians to resist, to give the I"D"F the "excuse" and the "right" to kill them, in an unequal in power and resources war. Soon after the Turkish invasion and occupation in Cyprus, the government received international aid in money: Now, here’s some money and keep quiet! ok?"

A year later the refugees from the Northern cities of Cyprus had houses built for them. The Palestinians, 60 years later, still live in tents. Not long afterwards, Cyprus begun to prosper economically. On this one, the Cypriots will say with pride: "it’s because we are not afraid to work hard!" and I won’t take it from them because it is true. But ... it is much easier to work and prosper when one receives aid to meet their first needs, no? When you have no money, no roof over your head, no food, no medical aid, no water, no jobs - nothing! - how do you work pal?

Yet the devil is in there lurking again. This financial "prosperity" in Cyprus, has brought about a strong materialism, blindness and self-centrism: the large majority of people in Cyprus now only care about what they own, how they look and how they will have a good time. The "Cyprus problem" is an annoyance of the 8 o’clock news, and no one cares to learn the history of this small place, which is so rich for its size. And despite their ignorance of the FACTS of the Cyrpus history, especially modern times, they have the audacity most of the Cypriots, to have "opinions" and nationalistic sentiments, though they behave as racist uneducated people, and they believe they are "cosmopolitan" and have the right to have and share their "opinions" because they wear Prada, got a PhD and drive Mercedes!

And there’s Palestine, where children die malnourished... geographically so close to us here, but yet so far away from our reality…

And in our ignorance, how can we recognize the enemy from our friend? We can‘t of course! Like the Fatah party has collaborated with the enemy against their own people and their wishes, so did EOKA B in Cyprus, with inspiration and support by the Athens junta and International forces, in a coup to overthrow Makarios, the democratically elected first president of the Cyprus republic, which was the event that gave Turkey the "excuse" to invade. On the 15th of July some of us woke up by sirens again to commemorate that sad day of betrayal towards all of the Cypriots by a minority of deviants and delusionals. But who remembers anymore? And like in Palestine those collaborators are now in the government, so in Cyprus, the traitors are in positions of power enjoying privileges and never brought to justice. Those who truly care of Cyprus and the people of Cyprus are defamed locally and Internationally, like Hamas is in Palestine. Palestinians know it though; Cypriots don’t, they are sound asleep, and in their sleep they can’t see the friend from the foe.

On august 15th, the sirens might disrupt some of our sleep again. We might even get irritated: "not again, let us sleep!" Forgetting that on August 15th in 1974 Famagusta was taken, and the Cypriot troops who tried as hard to fight the Turkish troops (a sad uneven battle lost from the start, considering the size of Turkish army, that of Cyprus, and the fact that the invasion was financed and applauded by the US) had to withdraw.

My grandmother locked the door and took the key, upon leaving her house in Famagusta. "We’ll return", she assured her 8 children, and kept assuring them during the months they lived in the tents. Few years later my grandma died. They are still to return. Cypriots are still to acknowledge the wounds from that summer of 1974 that still remain on their hearts, wounds that they pass on to their children unconsciously.

And the distance becomes so small sometimes: here is Palestine, here is Cyprus, a little blue apart. The same "act" being re-played, as it has been for centuries: psychopathic individuals to meet their goals, find those among a nation with a matching personality or characteristics of same, and have them assist them in their plans to destroy said nation, in the name of this or that. And then the task becomes to silence the majority of people of the nation, by putting them to sleep with "gifts" or by exterminating them little by little, so that there is no more will or energy left of them to resist or even bring those responsible for the crimes - to justice.

Seferis - a greek poet and diplomat who loved Cyprus - in his poem Eleni - one from a collection dedicated to the island – using characters of the Trojan war to illustrate the act that replays again and again through the centuries, wrote:

[…] some other Teucrus* years later, or an Ajax*, or a Priam*, or a Hecuba*,
Or someone else unknown, anonymous,
Who however has seen a Scamander* full of dead corpses,
Has it in his fate to hear heralds who come to say
That so much pain
So many lives
Were lost in abyss
For an empty shirt, for one Eleni.
This is what the pathocrats “sell" and the masses eagerly “buy": that all suffering is happening for a grand cause, for an ideal, the beauty of "Eleni". When in fact, it is because some empty shirts (psychopaths) got together and made a plan long ago on how to bring the whole world under control. And the Cypriots don't resist because their infatuated with their slavery; and the Palestinians do resist, but they can't do anything until a whole bunch of others join them and all together resist the pathocratic rule.

Meanwhile, the sirens will keep sounding, and the bombs will keep falling, bodies and hearts will be blown to pieces, lives shattered, nations exterminated, the earth destroyed... all FOR NOTHING!

*Teucrus: Ajax brother who did not return home to Salamis in Greece after Ajax was killed in Troy, and created Salamis in Cyprus
Priam: King of Troy, father of Paris and Hector
Hecuba: Wife of Priam
Scamander: river of troy where the biggest battles took play

Edit: "Eleni" reminded me of this poster:

I cannot even imagine. I think of the “troubles" here in the US and they just don’t compare to what is going on over there. Thank you for your post Irini- Well said!

Thanks for the well thought out and written article. And thank you for sharing your personal experiences (including your family's) also. You bring into sharp focus the different manifestations of the same overall disease at different times and in different parts of the world.

Yes, this summerizes the main problem we all face quite well, in my humble opinion. We will either all join together (or, at least, a sufficient number of us), with the Palestinians and everyone else, to resist Pathocratic Rule or else share the same fate as the Palestinians (and others) which is consistently getting worse.

SO TRUE! And sad.... But we must do what we can about all this! And we here, in this group/network are trying to do exactly that.

Your efforts as well as everyone else's is what counts. Will it be enough? We don't really know; but there is a good chance.... And what matters is to continue and increase the efforts as much as possible until we can have a more clear picture of the outcome.
