The Portable Therapist

The Living Force
The Portable Therapist by Susanna McMahon is written to address "questions people in therapy ask most", which is what I think makes it both handy and somewhat unique. It's not a long read, and might be faulted for its brevity -- it is also naive in the area of psychopathology -- but I found it constructive and helpful, particularly in the area of self-esteem. It's divided into the following sections:

I Philosophical Issues
II Conceptual Issues
III Individual Issues
IV Relationship Issues

I personally think it helps to have already read the Big 5 Narcissism books, as they will provide some good grounding and perspective, before using this book if you choose to -- just my 2 cents.

Thanks Shijing. I'll read this as soon as I've got through Cleckley. After that I think something a bit shorter will be just what I need!!! :)
