The Cosmic Force
After a period of doing a lot of reading about psychopaths and ponerology, I experienced a very intense dream that may be of interest:
In the dream I was an uninvolved "observer" of the interactions between two men; it was like watching a movie on a screen. I knew that one of the men was a dangerous psychopath and that the other one was completely unaware of that fact. They had some disagreement that the "normal" man took to be rather trivial and unimportant, but I knew that the psychopath was, in response, planning to "punish" the man for having crossed him. With alarm, I saw the psychopath enter the man's room while he was asleep, and proceed to attach a strange device to his right forearm.
The device looked like the tuning-fork in the picture below, minus the "handle"; it was laid horizontally down the man's forearm, with the open end pointing away from the hand and towards the man's body, and attached by three "pins" that were imbedded in the man's skin. With a frantic sense of horror and helplessness, I realized that the psychopath was going to "torture" the other man with this device, by periodically sending "pain signals" to the device. I knew that the man would never be able to remove the device, and would be tortured like that for the rest of his life. I woke up and/or did not remember the dream beyond that point.
I'm submitting this dream because when I woke up, I felt that there was something very important about the device. I did not think of it as a "tuning fork" in the dream, only later realized that's what it looked like when I tried to describe it. The image of it has stayed with me all day, along with a very disturbed feeling.
