The Secret Ingredient

I recently watched an episode of the comedy series “The Big Bang Theory”. I got a huge chuckle from this exchange:

Young Woman: This is delicious cobbler.
Mother: Do you know what the secret ingredient is?
Young Woman: Love?
Mother: No, Lard!

:D Pretty much everything is better with lard (or bacon fat)!

You said it! :)

JayMark, your post makes no sense to me. What do you mean?

It was a joke about lard. Nothing much to understand there.

It was like saying ''lard is God'' or something like that.

Reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Homer and Marge drink liquid lard in champagne flûtes in the bed. The lard bottle was a 2L-kind with a happy pig on it. I think it was called "lard glug" of something. Anyways, that was hilarious.

What I don't understand is what you meant by "Or so does that man think..." and the picture of that man. It seemed to me like your message meant something like "Lard is 7D (ie 'God')... or so the fat guy in this picture thinks." Maybe I'm way off, but to me your post reads like lard is a bad thing. Or is the joke that the guy thinks lard is 'God' and therefore he ate waaay too much of it? It seemed mean to me, and counter purpose, since if that's just a random photo of someone, it's most likely that his weight is caused by genetics plus eating too much grain, carbs, and modern "non-foods".

I'm just trying to understand and point out what I think I see.

Right.

Actually a lot of thinkgs changed since I made that post (within myself) and I exactly see what you mean. I'll at least remove the picture. There's no point and I don't feel good leaving it there.

Thanks for your insight.

EDIT: Oops. Can't edit it. Well, if a moderator could remove it and the "or so does than man think" that would be appreciated unless you think it might be good for others to see (as a lesson for me). I just feel bad leaving it there and feel bad for having posted that.

We usually don't remove posts or pics just because a person later realizes it was the wrong thing to write or post - the whole purpose of this forum is to learn and if we removed all the posts or pictures that were mistakes, the forum wouldn't make much sense at all.

You look at it as a reminder of how you used to think, and a minor catalyst for change perhaps.

I understand.

I just kind of felt bad for the guy on the picture but it's mostly because I made fun of him. So the picture itself is just that - a picture. No need to take it away as it would anyways change the way this discussion went.

Anyhow, thanks for your input again guys. I'm always amazed to see how I can easily fall down in subjectivity sometimes. But at least people on this board point it out and that's how I can realize it and then make better choises for the future.

Peace.
