This is a BBC series (6). It is a so interesting series: this is the story of a man that has a skin illness and lives in a hospital. He is a writer of detective stories. So the story is his story but at the same time the story of his novel and also the story of how his mind works, how a mind is always remembering, creating, associating. Little by little we and he also discovers who he is in his core, under the skin.

The interest in this series is the multiple layers of the story, that is made with a certain black humor criticizing also the medical world, doctors and psychologists. The acting is extremely good. Did someone know this series?

It can be seen also as how creativity works in the mind. This is not a superficial story.

Re: The Signing Detective

Yes, I remember that series! It was many, many years ago when I watched it, but every now and then I come to think of it because it was so excellent and different. I agree, from what i remember, that the acting was superb. Don't know if it still would appear as magical today, as then, I think I'll have to watch it again and see. :)

I remember that one too. Written by Dennis Potter. It gained some sort of cult status among many people who ever saw it.

It's on DVD and seems still available through Amazon for instance.
