The Syker Key (new novel!)

Okay, this might not be the right forum for it (pardon the pun?) but I'm just excited about *finally* being an actual author!

I just finished writing a (admittedly short) sci-fi/fantasy novel called "The Syker Key" that is posted on Amazon. I reference a lot of Electric Universe concepts in it, and touch very lightly on the C's (in fact I thank Laura in the, er, "thanks" section).

The surprising part was how long it did NOT take me to write it once I finally decided to do it; I started in November and finished in December. Wow. Mind you, it was a cheat in ways because it's actually based on an unproduced screenplay I wrote nearly 20 years ago. Nonetheless, I'm now working on the sequel!

...nerves rattled...

Congratulations Lost Spirit, its quite an achievement to become a published author. What's the plot to your novel, if you don't mind me asking.

It's basically about a Key of Power (a crystal) that has been held by a single family for a millennia, and when a threat emerges (terrorist) that could affect the "ownership", the crystal disappears until a victor emerges.

It's got very magical type elements to it, but I tried very hard to make it actually scientific, with a little creative license.

Simple story, hopefully made up for by the quality of the writing!

Sounds really interesting. :) Sounds like an allegorical between STO and STS (I'm guessing the family are the good guys)

Very sorry to double post, I didn't check before posting and left out a word. I was supposed to say: sounds like an allegorical battle between STO and STS. I'll be more careful in the future.

Amazon's got it for free for the next two days!

Congratulations on getting your book published, Lost Spirit. :)

I just downloaded it (well, it's free today). I will read it when I get a chance and after I'm done, I will give a review on Amazon.

I'm guessing that's your review on Amazon, Zadius Sky?

Thank you. I was hoping to get one review, good or bad, but you made my day.

You're very welcome. :)

I thought that it was a pretty good work. There were some aspects that were "off" where I thought some characters needed more developments/psychological details, and was specifically curious at why "John" seemed too "eager" to buy into the whole story that Pan gave him (he's a "police officer" and other's a wizard), and so on. But, these are hardly to be mentioned in the review as it's just me. Overall, I thought it was a great story with much-needed concepts in a novel. Exultantly, I most certainly loved the way that you incorporated the comets in this story.
