I just watched it again and recalled the first time I watched it a few years ago. At that time I felt like the movie was mirroring a lot of what I was feeling. I think this movie captures the essense of an aspect of waking, well.
Also (I've been watching movies this holiday season in lue of a religious feeding) And I must mention the Last King of Scotland. Great portrayal of a young doctor seduced and ensnared into the psychotic world of new Uganda president Idi Amin. Quite a gripping tale with excellent performances, especially Forest Whitaker
I saw The Truman Show last week. It might be interesting to read Plato's "The Allegory Of The Cave" and apply it to this movie - you may find some very interesting parallels.
And note that in The Truman Show, Truman's suffering - his very life - is food for the moon, and all those around him are 'agents' of the moon. A profound allegory indeed.
