The Who at the Superbowl

I just watched The Who, one of my all-time favorite bands, play the halftime show at the Superbowl. The irony of listening to them finish their set with Won't Get Fooled Again, for an enormous American audience, was mind boggling.

"Meet the new boss, same as the old boss." You tell'em, Roger!

While I didn't watch the Superbowl, I did see a clip of the Who performing, and they said it this Superbowl was the most watched thing on TV ever, beating out the last M.A.S.H. eposide.

So yeah, pretty ironic there....

Wow! I wasn't aware of that statistic - that's frightening. Especially since this year I have reached the conclusion that the NFL is fixed.

I just couldn't get over the sound of the crowd in the stadium singing the lyrics to the song, so loud that it was louder than the band, all totally oblivious. It felt quite similar to how I felt watching Obama's acceptance speech on election night, seeing all those people in a state of rapture, crying, dancing and all quickly falling asleep.

What was annoying about the coverage is that they were touting the superbowl as if it fixed all of New Orleans' problems. They kept saying that New Orleans was back. Nonsense.

Missed the big shew, but I too like their music from years past. At first it seemed like a real sell-out, Laurel Canyon style, but maybe there was a message in it somewhere for somebody. Obviously not the majority.

It sure sounds like the ptb 'needed' New Orleans to win. Rigging sounds right-on.
