Things are deteriorating fast where I live

I have to work on my inner resistance to have a weapon. I hope don't need to use one.

I certainly understand this. I grew up with shotguns and rifles, but was never a good shot, till I learned I'm right eye dominant but left handed. My aim greatly improves when I shoot right handed. :P

My husband always tells me, "better to have a weapon and not need it, than need it and not have it." He has lived thru 4 wars and was driving a car and carrying a 9mm at the age of 12, out of family necessity to manage during the chaos. So he has experience in these matters, but luckily, has never had to shoot anybody.

I'm not crazy about weapons and sincerely hope I would never have to use one against another person. I have been looking at the latest designs in sling shots on youtube. More of the primitive type of things that can be made at home and make a useful tool for hunting and god forbid, defense. Who'd think rubber bands and marbles are survival tools? ;) As always, there is right and wrong, and the situation that determines which is which.

For me, I have (almost) always heeded my instinct and avoided dangerous situations. Cosmic mind willing, it will continue to keep me aware and out of danger. In the end, I think knowledge and awareness is more important than a weapon.

I think owning a weapon specifically for self-protection greatly increases the chances you will use it if you are in a situation/country where there is a decent chance of needing to use it. I think I would look at relocating, if possible, rather than taking the step of buying a gun because I fear for my life. It could amount to sending out a message to the 'universe' that you are 'interested' in having that kind of encounter.

I am of the same thinking Perceval. But I learnt that arms selling is already forbidden here.

There were some lootings in a next city here, as 25 stores. Today it was more quiet. Government decree two additional days for carnival holidays with the hope that people calm down.
There is a serious shortage of syringes and disposable material for hospitals since one month ago and it is getting worse, even a doctor told my boss that people are starting reusing syringes with the peril this suppose.

I believe we are being haarp beaming because people are complaining about trouble with sleeping, body aches, punctures in the body.

While all this is happening some airlines are waiting instructions from their headquarters to definitively leave the country because the big debt the government have with them. The buys in the state supermarket will be regulated once a week for basic foods. Like an smokescreen government tried to forbid tattoos in arms, face and sexual parts. Very stupid movement.
As if that was not enough, education minister said yesterday that "we will not take anyone from poverty to become a middle-class opponent" is this not something for get mad?.

More simple than that, it is call stress! People in the country are getting a lot of that! EE would be excellent here!

I'm very sorry to hear what you are going through. I hope you are able to do EE, have access to meat, and find a path to safety soon! Hang in there! :hug2:

I don't think that's an accurate translation of what he said. He said "we're not going to move people out of poverty to the middle class so that they can then claim to be in poverty", which seems to be a reference to people abusing the system.

I note that the newspaper subtitle also twisted his words in this way. I'm sure you know that El Universal has been consistently anti-government since Chavez was elected.

WoW what a thread!! My heart goes out to you and your family Galaxia2002!! :hug2: Things are really speeding up. Hang in there Mate!!

Thank you to you all!! The zone where I live is quiet, there was any problem here apart of insecurity and difficult to find some food items. There are other neighborhoods with blocked streets with barricades. I am doing EE each 2- 3 days but as I commented I need more self discipline to do it everyday as before.

No Perceval. "escuálido" is traslated as "opponent" because "escuálido" was the nickname that Chavez put to opposition people. "escuálido" is not poor. So I think my translation is right.
Here is a video with that part of the speech :

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Escualido
Escualido
A Venezuelan Colloquialism used by President Chavez and his party / supporters (the majority are the low income people whom live in the outskirts of the big cities and have traditionally been ignored by previous administrations) to denigrate people who oppose his Socialist government and or politics.

He said after that his comment was put out of context, but when he offered an explanation, said the same with sweetened words:

"Justified such a statement claiming that the effort made by the Government in order to create better conditions for Venezuelan society, must have "a political principle" not to establish a "social sector with aspirational values that we don't share."

I am awake of the universal, but in this case they have been right and even gave a reply to the minister.

I considered that Irjo but the symphtoms are alike, that's what made me think that way. I hope you are doing well.

Well that sounds ok to me also, in context. He says that they need to strive to help the poorest sectors and that it has to be done in the context of political organisation, so that that by improving the lot of the poorest people they make sure that these people don't 'bite the hand that feeds them', so to speak. In using a term that refers to the enemies of Chavez, he's probably referring to those who want to go back to the Venezuela that was dominated by the rich and foreign interests.

Galaxia, there is no government in the world today that is not practicing this political philosophy.

Gosh, that sounds terrible.

Can you share any articles here that describe these developments?

Hi kniall
About airlines:

in English:
http://centreforaviation.com/analysis/airlines-in-limbo-as-venezuelas-thorny-currency-issues-persist-152670
http://www.businessweek.com/news/2014-01-30/airlines-cut-venezuela-flights-amid-payment-delays-devaluation

Spanish:
http://www.crhoy.com/aerolineas-tienen-3-3-mil-millones-varados-en-venezuela-v3j5x/
http://www.el-nacional.com/economia/Aerolineas-esperan-orden-irse-pais_0_361764013.html

It seems that the government has cancelled a part of debt of two airlines:
http://www.elmundo.com.ve/noticias/negocios/empresas/aerolineas-comienzan-a-recibir-pago-de-deuda-en-do.aspx

But in the practice you can't find a ticket. My coworkers and I have a congress in Colombia (next country) and there is no tickets to august at least in local currency. Let's see if the situation improve. I suppose airlines are threatening to press and get their paid.

About the food regulation of the government chains supermarket:
http://www.periodico24.com/pdval-regulara-las-compras-mediante-sistema-automatizado/noticia/51600/

tattoos:

I re checked the news about this and they now said that they didn't "ever" pretend to forbid tattoes in those body areas

http://laiguana.tv/noticias/2014/02/24/12688/ES-MENTIRA-QUE-SE-PROHIBIERON-LOS-TATUAJES-MINISTRO-PARA-LA-SALUD-ACLARO-TODO-SOBRE-EL-TEMA-.html

but if you check the official proposal (article 31) it apperas:

article 31:
The application of tattoos on areas of the face, neck, forearms, hands and genital is strictly prohibited

Here is:
http://sacs.mpps.gob.ve/siacs/ConsultaPublica/NormasComplementariasEstablecimietoEsteticaHumana.pdf

The proposal is a public consult, but how can be so restrictive and seems like a ban? Anyway people of all tendencies mobilized sending tons of mails and it have an effect.

Venezuela accuses Kerry of murder and inciting voilence
_http://rt.com/news/venezuela-maduro-kerry-killer-034/

March 15, 2014 - Foreign Minister Elias Jaua has called US Secretary of State John Kerry a murderer and accused him of inciting violence in Venezuela. Jaua’s words came in retaliation to Kerry’s accusation that the Venezuelan government is terrorizing its own people.

In a heated rebuke to Kerry, Jaua denounced him as a murderer of the Venezuelan people.

"Kerry, we denounce you before the world. You are inciting violence in Venezuela, and we will denounce it in every part of the world. We denounce you as a murderer of the Venezuelan people," Jaua said in Caracas.

He added that Venezuela would not back down until the US ordered its “lackeys” in Venezuela to cease their violent activities.

"Every time we're about to isolate and reduce the violence, Mr. Kerry comes out with a declaration and immediately the street protests are activated," Jaua said in a speech carried on state TV. He added that the protests had not succeeded, however, in achieving their aim of triggering a coup d’etat in Venezuela.
