I hope you enjoy the following three haikus that I just wrote. They are followed by a silly poem. I hope you enjoy it as well.
Haiku 1
Wet snow covers trees
Trees shiver cold wind blows hard
Wet snow falls on heads.
Haiku 2
Dog paces by door
Whines, barks, wags little tail
Key in door, daughter home - joy
Haiku 3
Efforts to write Truth
In haiku form elude me
Form shadows on page
This is a silly poem which I wrote a long time ago.
The Land of Lost Socks
Socks are wanderers
Socks are rovers
Every sock is a drifter whose very sole
Longs to return to
The Land Of Lost Socks.
Here, single at last, it pairs up
To form improbable combinations:
A pink with an orange, a yellow with a green
A black united at last with its duplicitous double,
The not so true blue navy blue.
WELCOME TO SOCK WONDERLAND!
Located next to THE REALM OF LOST EARRINGS
Which abuts THE ISLAND OF PAPERS THAT WERE JUST PUT DOWN A MOMENT AGO.
Here mirth prevails in the coy titters of metals,
The saucy shuffling of papers
The licentious couplings and uncouplings of rich argyles
sensible cottons, and easy-to-care for acrylics.
On another plane
Their absence is noted.
They are searched for,
Cursed,
Given up for lost.
But socks are wanderers,
Earrings are hard to pin down,
Papers are like cats and dogs who have hit the road
And thought better of it.
One day they quietly return
To their original places:
A stuffed drawer, a cluttered windowsill,
an edge of shelf.
Refreshed from their travels,
The smugly await the cries that will greet them:
"I could have sworn..."
"I know I looked here..."
"But I just threw the other one away..."
