Torture finally called torture - a revolutionary act?

During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act."
-George Orwell

Dick Cheney's & Company's "enhanced interrogation" has finally been officially called what it has always been -torture - and while he can't speak from any sort of moral high ground it is interesting that Obama has used the thing's true name.

I doubt Obama's pronouncement that "We tortured some folks" signifies a new era of truth and true service from our elected ones; surely his statement somehow serves his (and Cheney's et al.) larger purpose.

James Corbett makes the case that "our language has been weaponized against us" in his 9 minute The Eyeopener.

Interesting. It may be that Obama looking for distinguish himself from the Republicans. Of course, in defense of torture, others pathological could say something like this:

And what's worse is that many will believe to them. Torture and inhumanity, the price of our "freedom" and "security."

It's an interesting comment on our supposedly advanced civilized society that the "leader of the free world" stating publicly that his government tortured people, when everyone knew that already, is seem as something positive.
