Traveling to Washington DC

The Living Force
My housemate and I have planned a trip to Washington DC this spring to visit her cousin and to see what we can see. This is actually more exciting than it sounds--her cousin is someone those of you in or from the US should have heard of--but I will leave the details for later.

Hi megan, like Anart said, and i will ad: Stay aware, to stay safe, to stay alive. For being the seat of of government that institutes laws to protect the nation, Wash D.C. has a crime rate that reckons with Los Angles, Oakland, Sacramento, Richmond, San Diego, Stockton, all in California. Google current news from the area you will travel to get a heads up. Add to your knowledge of current issues that my help you navigate for a safe journey.

We have given some thought to this. We are staying in close to where we are going. I work in downtown Sacramento and commute through a relatively high-crime area, so I at least have some experience with the issue. These are good suggestions, though, and the area will be unfamiliar to us. Thank you!

This is more than a vacation--there is an opportunity to meet someone of note and learn something as well--and I think it is worth the risks.

Megan, One last thought. Think about avoiding patterens of behavior. Consider to mix it up. Never take the same route twice. Carry a current detailed maps of the city area in case you have set out on foot, that you Will always have options for egress's. And don't let the clock make movement's for your activity's as expressed by those in the know. Also trust your God given instinks, beyond sight and smell. If you use transits systems careful of pickpocket's and all that jazz for stress free vacation and Good Luck!
