treating cat with turmeric

Hello, first post! my cat is constipated and I am wondering if giving larger than usual doses of turmeric will get is bowel moving the block?
ps:
He has suffered some nerve damage when dog bit his tail off.
Please help - i have administered a bit less than quarter teaspoon about and hour and abit ago and am hoping it will push diarrhea out to pass blockage out.

Shall i repeat and put a little bit more in next dose?

Well, I know that turmeric is a good anti-inflammatory and can be given to cats in order to reduce inflammation, arthritis pains, etc. But not as a constipation relief.
Z probably knows more.

Usually other things are used as a constipation relief. The most optimal is Vaseline oil because it isn't absorbed by the intestine and just transits it. But I would advice you to contact your vet because there are all kind of reasons for constipation and maybe your kitty better to be checked out.

This is very common problem in cats and in 99% of the cases it is caused by wrong diet.

What do you feed your cat?

If your cat has progressed to mega colon state (i.e. you can feel largish rock hard mass of constipated material in the intestine) it is very unlikely turmeric will do anything. If this is the case I would suggest you take your cat to the nearest vet ASAP.

How long the cat was not eliminating?

If it is only minor constipation episode you can give 5 ml of paraffin oil. This can be repeated if no relief within 5-6 hours. If still no relief take your cat to the vet for an enema.
