Tripartite centers

Sol Logos

The Living Force
I've been reflecting on the idea of the 3 stages of growth with most things. In design and research for business I'd often use - explore, evaluate and generate or another simpler form - listen (sense) , learn and do. They have an interesting connection with feel, think, act. Aligns with that idea of having the tripartite centers - soul, mind, body OR emotional, intellectual, physical.

In Genesis it's states it like this:

Then the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground [body], and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life [mind]; and man became a living soul

In Thessalonians it's like this:

And the God of peace himself sanctify you wholly; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved entire, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ

It's also inferred in the Trinity concept - Father (soul), Holy Ghost (spirit), Son (body). So the story goes God whom is the first cause, gives divine life via the holy spirit to Mary whom carries the body of Christ. That's again soul - spirit (or mind) and body. I've heard to we have a soul body, spirit body and material body.

I've found it helpful using the three-legged stool analogy to describe it too. We know when we're off balance - that's when there's too much weight on either foundation. And then we topple!. We can get stuck in the exploring - always testing, discovering, gathering feedback and data.

But if we don't start evaluating, we can't begin to define, or prioritise the value of any particular approach or direction. Always evaluating, learning, assessing, weighing up our options etc. - becomes that paralysis by analysis! All thinking and no doing.

Always doing is also an issue too - how long can we go on without listening to all the feedback around us? It's like that sail boat with no rudder but also having no way to feel the direction of the wind, the tides and currents. Always moving and not really going anywhere in particular.

That's at least the practical aspects as I see it at least. Just my two cents - simply I find this Tripartite model fascinating.
