It's first taking aim at me though lol. Looks like we wont be able to dodge this one like we did Emily, i live in the south side of the island and we're already on hurricane warning. Good news is if it becomes a hurricane before hitting us it hopefully wont be a strong one, so hopefully not a lot of damage will happen.

It looks like it's hitting the east first and that's a big tourist location with many hotels. I'm sure the hotels are taking measures in order to keep the tourists and employees safe.

So again i prepare for the worse but hope for the best.

I'm happy to report that despite the original forecasts, Irene did like Emily and missed us. The northeast and north coastline got brushed by it (there's still a hurricane warning for the north), but damage would have been a lot worse if it had actually entered the country like they had said. We've been blessed so far this season with nothing really hitting us directly, and i hope the trend continues :)

Irene is already a category 2 hurricane, and considering it doesnt have much land to interact with, it could get stronger. I hope it drifts out to open waters and doesnt affect anyone else, but looks like at least Bahamas wont be able to avoid it.

Here's how it's looking right now:

Glad the storm missed you, Bim!
It's supposed to be coming very close to our coast early Sunday morning. Hurricanes are really rare here, and people are going absolutely crazy. Half of them are brushing it off and not preparing at all, and the others are buying up all the generators and canned food they can get their hands on.
Hoping everyone on the east coast stays safe!
