A truck has ploughed into a Christmas market in western Berlin injuring several people, local media reported, citing police.

“Police confirm that a truck ploughed into a Christmas market at Breitscheidplatz in Berlin-Charlottenburg,” local newspaper Berlin Morgen post stated.

Nine people are reported to be killed. At the moment are confusing statements if the driver is on the run or dead too and it is reported that it is a truck with a polish registration.

A suspect has been arrested, but they can't confirm if he was the driver. Another person was found dead in the lorry as a result of crash injuries. Witnesses insist it was a deliberate act, but police are not sure yet.

Update: So far politics refrain a bit from speaking directly from a terrorist attack and mention that more facts and time are needed. And so far everything is still open and no real conclusion drawn, except that it was deliberate. It is reported that the truck had a co driver who is reported to be dead and of course a driver where the remains are not sure yet and there are still several reports. Alas a minimum of 12 people died and 48 people got wounded some severely. Accounts of twitter posted fake images of a supposedly terrorist or one politician of the AFD is blaming Merkel for her politics: "These are your dead persons, Merkel".

We're there already. As soon as the headline broke on RT (1 dead, 9 injured, could have been accidental etc.) the vast majority of the comments were 'Religion of peace strikes again', 'More cultural enrichment for Germany' etc.

But the rise of far right movements in European countries will surely push those countries closer to Russia, who is actively exterminating the terrorists. So something doesn't add up if this is the intended goal.

I guess it could be wishful thinking on the part of the PTB who think they will be able to control these far right leaders through coercion and blackmail. It will probably work on some of them though not necessarily all. But I think their main attempt at the moment is to create a state of fear and panic among the population that will lead to the acceptance of new draconian security measures and keep fuelling the xenophobia, blaming everything on immigrants.

The president of the Berlin police forces, Klaus Kandt, just came out saying that the Pakistani guy arrested might not be the person driving the truck that ploughed through the crowd at the Christmas market last night, so the attacker might still be on the run.

I wonder if we are going to witness another hunt on the supposed attacker in the coming days as they did after the Paris attacks...

So far what is confirmed: The truck was stolen from a polish company and the driver was taken as a hostage and shot in the end. The driver itself was mistaken by another person and the police did also a house search in the biggest refuge camp in Berlin. Today, surprisingly a passport of a guy from Tunis was found inside the truck and police is still searching for him. And last but not least ISIS claimed responsibility today. I think it turned out pretty quickly to the usual suspects and carries the signature of professional work imo. Als the site from the Federal Criminal Police Office where people could upload witness videos and pictures from the incident went down due to a attack on the site itself.
