In short, they believed all the lies for their immediate comfort. These are the people that gets converted rather easily.
In general, People are followers of rules. blowback is expected mainly from commercial establishments. If OP's, silent souled being can be wooed with common sense, Trump haters ( most of them just resonated to it as some of their taste buds rejected with Trump due to MSM propaganda, education etc.) has high possibility of seeing through the viel.
