Undersea mount off California coast

The Living Force
This is one that’s been on my mind for years. I’ve lived nearby for nearly my entire life, and nobody (including a childhood friend who was both in the army, and is a diver who runs a service cleaning boat hulls) has either noticed or been able to explain. Maybe it’s just a natural feature of the ocean floor, or maybe something more. I certainly find it both interesting and a bit mysterious. You can see it clearly in this photo from Google Maps. It’s approximately 1.3 miles from the beach, and over a mile long on the way to Catalina Island. Just thought I’d share.IMG_2365.jpeg

How deep is it? More than 140 meters (ocean level during the Ice Age)?
I’m not actually sure of the depth out there. I’m currently reading Harrison’s book, and am in the chapter about underwater bases. There’s mention of the “thumping” which we heard and felt for months a few years back. To better orient people to the photo, it’s just southeast of Long Beach (1.2 miles from Anaheim Bay, where the US Navy docks its warships). I like the ice age angle. That’s a fascinating possibility. Definitely less worrisome than the underwater base idea!😄

Yes, interesting seafloor structure right next to Los Angeles. Here it is on Google Maps:

The depth is apparently only about 10 meters, if I am not mistaken, and it is about one mile from the shore. I checked the same location on another seafloor map and it shows something completely different, a kind of small canyon there:

Google usually says that its seafloor maps can sometimes have artifacts from the radar sounding process. They claimed the same thing regarding the huge grid-like structure south of the Azores that some thought was evidence of Atlantis.

That’s surprising! You can see a pair of oil tankers on the left edge of the circle (there were dozens parked out there during the lockdown). Just outside the view are the oil platforms (Edith and Garfield) visible from the end of my street. I actually had a friend who worked on one (two weeks on, two weeks off) back in 1989.

The reminders of the old sessions in Harrison’s book about the tunnels from Death Valley to Antelope Valley really has my brain spinning. I’ve driven all over those places. It’s been so long since I re-read The Wave Series. Going back to those days with Terry and Frank…

My father was a quantum physicist who worked at Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Rockwell, NASA, and Lockheed. I know he had some government clearances (he took me with him through the gates when once I was a boy home sick from school), and his work was classified. You can believe me, if he were still alive, I’d have some heavy questions!! It drives me crazy!🤪
