Somehow this caught my attention:

About 150 people have been treated in hospital and hundreds more affected by an unknown gas which hit the East Sussex coast.

Birling Gap beach was evacuated on Sunday after people reported breathing difficulties, stinging eyes and vomiting when a "mist" appeared.

Sussex Police said on Monday morning the gas cloud appeared to have cleared.

Agencies are investigating the cause and have not ruled out either on-shore or off-shore locations.

In the past, chemicals have drifted across from European industrial units, but Sussex Police said: "Weather models suggest that an onshore source in northern France is very unlikely."

The Coastguard said it was working with its French counterparts and looking into vessels that were in the area at the time.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said it was "extremely unlikely" the substance involved was chlorine.

So far it is not known from where it came, only that it most likely came from the sea, according to some witnesses and as it can be seen in the video below. Since it is suspected that likely it came from the sea, I suspect that something natural (gas bubble) happened? Anyway, it will be interesting to know what caused it or if they blame someone or something.

HMMM, is there a Link with this story a day Earlier ?

Maybe some experiments that the Government sometimes do just for fun? To study the human reactions, how sick people are and how.

Given the "earth is opening up" due to slowed solar activity, I'm wondering if it isn't methane.

methane is odorless. There was a strong smell associated with this.

The Chemical Chlorine was mentioned,
presumably by someone familiar with it.

It occurs to me that chlorine may be used in treating sewage,
and just up the coast is brighton that a few years ago solved their sewage problem,
( sewage washing back on to the beach )
by extending their outflow pipes .

Yes they dump a lot of sewage direct into the sea.
