This documentary has just been released on Netflix and is the real life story of a 13yo girl and her boyfriend who start receiving texts from an unknown number in a case of bullying. The texts are sexually explicit and encourage suicide. Thousands of these texts are sent to the young girl and boy over the course of almost 2 years. The investigative case starts at the school level. It is then reported to police who start following leads trying to track down the culprit in the small community leading to innocent people coming under question. Then the case is ultimately handed to the FBI where the texts are tracked to the young girls mother who was using a random phone number generating app.

The documentary has come under some criticism for not including a clinical psychological assessment of the mother. I searched for one and found, as in the words of one critic, basically serve as sympathy edits for the mother. She's quite the piece of work with even the young boys mother initially denying that it could have been the young girls mother.
