Marriage banquet for 400 invited business, politics VIPs, artists of Bolshoi and Mariinsky theaters has been given in the Katherine the Great Palace in outskirts of St. Petersburg. Rental of the Palace only amounted for 140 000 $. Total cost of marriage estimates – 1,5 million Euro. Arriving guests were greeted by angels with down wings. The future spouse has presented the unique ring covered by huge quantity of diamonds to his bride.
Edit: forgot about her dresses: she was very happy to state that she had 4 wedding dresses for the banquet, and was changing them every 2 hours, they are decorated with Svarowski and weight of one is like 25 kg. Swarowski weight adds to the force with gravitates one to more and more physicality indeed.
What quite amazed me, I remember seeing MSM Russian TV in the first days of this year;
on the Channel One the program titled in Russian [‘Ches’] which would translate into English like carding a wool from a sheep, a program about 'prima-balerinas' of Russian pop-culture artists, who during New Year and Christmas festivities were busy making 24-7 rounds to Moscow and Petersburg elite night clubs and private palaces to ‘comb’ dollars and euros from Russian well-doers and were lamenting on camera about uneasiness of their pitiful life… Suddenly I changed the channel to another MSM Russian RTR, and the sharpness of the contrast knocked me out completely – on that channel at the same time there was a program about a retired Russian woman , who is in her 70-ies and she is helping kids from the nearby charity house where children who don’t have parents live, and she was telling that she knits socks for them, and gives a lot from her 2000 Rubles (like 40$ monthly) buying kids dairy products and chocolate, and some toys and books. And she said: ‘I can help them, you know, I am very rich. My pension is 2000 rubles. I can help children, and I am so happy.’ And she told that she is rich with such convincement that it would be difficult to doubt her sincerity. That contrast in what I was seeing in 2 Russian mainstream channels was startling: extreme craving for physicality and its pleasures and finding ways to help others in this STS world.
With recent surge in 7-7-7 wedding frenzy let’s have a look at ‘beyond sanity’ pompous marriage banquet of former Russian Bolshoi theather prima ballerina Anastasia Volochkova and a wealthy businessman Vdovin.Tristram Hunt said:In New York, Shanghai and London, the cosmopolitan plutocracy outdo each other in displays of ritual vulgarity from the car showroom to the restaurant table. But beneath the helipads, there lurks a growing cityscape of poverty and exploitation.
[..]What excited Engels was how "the members of this money aristocracy can take the shortest road through the middle of all the labouring districts to their places of business, without ever seeing that they are in the midst of the grimy misery that lurks to the right and the left". The city was designed "to conceal from the eyes of the wealthy" the human cost of their riches: "the misery and grime which form the complement of their wealth". And they certainly weren't innocent "in tthe matters of this sensitive method of construction"
