USAF current email blackout from bases

I heard this in a conversation with a friend over the weekend and would like to see if anyone else has heard of anything similar. We were talking about the current state of things in the world, about the election and these two ridiculous main candidates, the United States' govt intention to invade Iran, etc, and it got around to the recurring talk about something happening before November.

His brother is a serving officer with a top secret clearance in the Air Force, stationed at a base in Hawaii. They talked on Saturday August 2nd and his brother let slip that they are not permitted to send out email from the base, and that this was recently imposed. He wondered if they are in some state of preparedness for an immanent event.

If I remember a similar situation occurred before the Sept 11th and subsequent "terrorist" attacks, as people went back and filled in the blanks, some people recalling that communications from their relatives in the military were restricted in the preceding days. This might not be such an unusual thing but it does line up with some other things that have appeared in the last few days. Though I'd ask if anyone else's acquaintances had anything similar to relate recently, any military information restiction or lockdown.

My third cousin is in the Army and handles the bombs that get loaded onto various things. Because of her job, she is unable to tell her parents (who watch her baby while she is in Iraq) where she is or what she is doing. Others are allowed to email their families, but she has no access, nor is allowed to do so if she finds access. Even phone calls are not allowed while she is overseas, simply because of the nature of her job.

I often worry about her, because the only communication her family would get should something go wrong, would be from the Armed Forces themselves. And we can all surmise what that news would be. This must drive her parents crazy, not being able to hear from her.

Other than possible imminent attack on other nations , it also of course could be used so as not be reporting any U.F.O. pursuits , sightings etc.
