I just want to address my experience. I'm not completely sure that this is my problem, but I've read other peoples experiences and I think this is it.
So my story. About a year ago, I was taking Magnesium Taurate from KAL brand which has 12.5 mg (893% of RDA) of vitamin B6 in it's active form P5P (Pyridoxal 5 Phosphate). I was already aware that this vitamin can be toxic, but in it's so called inactive form Pyridoxine HCL. I was taking it for a few days, then stopped, after around two days after I've stopped, I woke up and my OCD was much worse, and I got depressed, I've never been depressed and I just didn't want to get up from bed. It was terrible.
So I started searching what, why have I've gotten like this. And what I've noticed was that after I've took this magnesium supplement I've got better and when I stopped it, it got worse.
So why do I think it's B6 toxicity. After a bit of research, I've joined a facebook group called Exploring vitamin B6 toxicity, and read other peoples experiences and found some similarities, depression, increased obsessive (OCD) thoughts, pure magnesium supplement helps a bit. My other symptoms include: muscle twitches around the body, frequent but hard stool, things that would usually cause diarrhea, nothing, that summer before, I ate a whole pack of prunes, got stomachache and diarrhea in a hour, then when it started nothing, magnesium citrate would cause diarrhea, nothing. I also got a weird sensation at the tip of my penis, yes... I went to a urologist, did bloodwork, all fine, no UTI, everything with prostate ok. Most of the physical symptoms went away in about a month after not taking the supplement, it will be about a year from that in about a month or so. But what stayed to this day is some form of a low key depression, and I have some weird feeling of pressure in my head.
I just wanted to share this if anyone here could offer some advice and help here, and to make people aware of effects of this vitamin, if this is the case.
