Warm Bodies

I just watched this, and I must say I was surprised. By the poster and quick reviews I really suspected a crappy B-Grade movie and so never got it, but my friend told me it was amazing so i watched it and I must say again I was surprised.

It was very interesting seeing the metaphor of life today represented as the zombies, who have been taken over by the virus and have a need to feed almost like vampires generically are represented, but the soul given to the main character zombie "R" as trapped within a body unable to communicate with others who are all the same like him was really well done, IMHO.

<SPOILER ALERT>
Only near the end of the movie did I realise the Romeo and Juliet connections of the movie's roots, in the scene with the balcony, and of course with the main characters being named "R" and "Julie"... but the parallels with a society who only consumes mindlessly versus the few living remaining and the story-line of requiring the rediscovery of Love to become human again I thought was very well translated to screen.

Anyway, maybe I am reading too much into this, but it was a very heart-warming and well-produced production... what do you think?

IncenDiary, hey pal (from over on SoTT...I'm 'theodocius' over there), thanks so much for this! :)

I'll have to check it out. Hope all is cool down under (Australia?) ~ All the Best & Thanks Again :D

:cool2:

Same here, from the trailer I thought "ah not another zombie crap" but surprise, surprise... When i started to watch it felt so much different than trailer. Liked the premise based in Romeo and Juliet in society that is zombified so to say and in correlation with today's society. Anyway surprise for today's Hollywood movies that mostly have crappy story and tons of special effects...

IncenDiary, oops! :oops: just saw elsewhere you're in Capetown, S.A. ~ sorry for the error.

Hope all is going well ~ I'll have to check this flick out......thanks for the tip :cool2:

I actually liked this movie better than I thought I would. Nothing mind blowing but it was funny.

Maybe you can see some kind of parallel to the mass of people asleep & zombified, with a few zombies beyond any kind of "redemption" but it stops there for me.
The way I understand it, love is the cure to the zombification but it's way oversimplifying things but I did not watch Warm bodies to learn about our reality :D

I watched this yesterday & i was very surprised. Upon it's initial release i saw the trailer where she walks stiff & he corrects her,(tut tut) with other clips that made me sigh. But, after the ridiculous opening half-hour with the ZOMBIES TALKING which was bad enough, & "r" thinking away (& narrating) which was actually pivotal to the movie, it started to flow quite nicely with good humour.
The whole eating brains & getting memories-cum-dreams thing was good too. The hand holding thing was a bit much (reflection trigger) but by then i didn't care as it was really enjoyable. I have to say that those "bonies" were frightening (reminiscent of that Will Smith zombie flick) but these were far better. Overall the human connection thing (touch, play, etc) worked well & the transformation thing (just watch it you'll see) made me think of those medical conditions, often described as the patient being trapped in their body & the like which gave this movie a strange sense of realism or something. Interesting to know other views on this one, definitely a good twist to the tired apocalyptic zombie theme. I recommend it for sure. :)
