Or maybe it was a chinese lantern.

About 4 hours ago while lazing on the sofa a light caught my eye from outside. The window was open so I stuck my head out and watched venus travel across the sky well within the earths atmosphere , very low actually , close , and with its usual starlike brightness. It made no sound , traveled very slowly without a care in the world and continued on its way above the houses , then as it passed over the rooftops and out of sight me and the wife headed towards the back kitchen and watched it move on eastwards until it vanished out of site.

All in all it was in sight for aprox 5 minuits , maybe a little longer.

Yes I know a lot of ufo people are going to say it was not Venus at all because Venus does not travel across the sky at that speed and within the earths atmosphere , but your wrong. Tonight for some reason Venus was traveling faster than it usually does , I am sure some scientist will tell us how this is possible.

Venus can do strange things indeed.

My sister in law has related several times since the 70's how she was sat in her house and saw a flashing light through the window, which she thought might be an ambulance in the street outside.
So she went to the door just in time to witness what she described as a saucer shaped object the size of a small car hovering about 10 feet off the ground above the road. A street of terraced houses on both sides of the road.

It then suddenly moved off down the street a short way, tipped on it's side, and shot down a narrow ginnell between the terraced houses.
A neighbour had seen it as well. "Did you just see what I just saw?" She said they ran to the ginnell, but whatever it was had dissapeared.

She said as far as she can recall, it was about dusk, so I would say the sun had probably not long gone down.
So Yep, it could have been Venus on that occasion I suppose. :P

The past couple of summers we see venus go about in all directions. Usualy starts with a glaring point of light in the dark sky, travels across the sky, dims, than goes completely out. I did see an odd one once back about 03. It was in a moment I was taking in the warm quietness of the summer night when something in my mind made my head look straight up. There in all its splendid glory was a bluish orb traveling under the broken clouds as it gave off a bluish halo glow on the clouds. Magnificent.
