Website for finding gluten free and allergy friendly restaurants in US

I was surfing for local bakeries that make gluten free cakes etc, and stumbled across this site:

http://www.glutenfreeregistry.com

You click on the state you live in, and it will list restaurants that offer gluten free menus. Some will even have a chart for every dish that will tell you what potential allergen may be in it, so it can be avoided. Also listed are bakeries that are totally gluten free, many of which are local. I was surprised to see a couple that were in the same near by city as I am, but none are close enough for me to drive to. More restaurants are beginning to offer gluten free dishes, and I think its important to check them out and encourage this.

Its also nice to go out once in a while. :)

It would still be wise to be cautious with some of these restaurants. Even though they list 'gluten free' doesn't mean they prepare your food anywhere different than where they prepare regular meals. Meaning you could still get traces of gluten in your meal. I myself have had bad experiences with Outback (which is listed as gluten free) and my stomach didn't respond well to their meals. Also they list Boston Market and I know for a fact that they have soy in mostly everything on their menu. I think a lot of these restaurants are starting to list themselves as gluten free just to pick up more business but in reality they probably figure the money they make in the meantime will be more than the lawsuit they get when someone does have a serious reaction.

There is also the issue of where their foods come from. Meats from God only knows where and vegetables possibly from gmo crops? Remember this is the fast food industry and by now we all know they don't have our best interest in mind.

However it is nice to eat out once in a while so I'm not saying not to, just saying you still have to be very cautious as to what you order and if possible find out as much as you can about the food first.

You've made some really good points. There are a lot of products out there that state they are gluten free but if you read the ingredients you'll find they contain corn or rice and we know we need to avoid them. Also-what kind of fats do they use to prepare their food? Many places do have soy in everything or high fructose corn syrup.
