Weird red fireball moves across the sky during hailstorm

I don't know what this is. Does anyone have any ideas?

-fireball/meteor?
-ball lightning?
-UFO?

edit added: Or a flare?

It kind of fizzles out at 0:49 and then at 0:59 there looks to be some kind of explosion or lightning behind the building. The video was posted on 11 June, but not sure when it was recorded.

Thank you Bear for the video; to me it looks like a fire ball, because it splits in two and then banishes.... :cool2:

True, except I could not make out any visible streaking behind it. Could be ball lightning. IMO it looks electromagnetic. Very odd indeed, supposing the video is authentic...it does appear so.

Doesn't necessarily need streaking behind it to be a fireball, though it may have been there but not visible because of cloud cover.

To me, it just looks like an electrically charged fireball interacting with the electrically charged atmosphere only behind cloud cover.

Ditto. Pretty interesting to see the light becoming more intense behind the clouds, before disintegrating. I bet we'll be seeing more of those in the future. Electrical storms are becoming something common these days.

Maybe it's just me, but it seemed to be pulsing a bit to the background sound.

When I saw the pulsing, I thought of the flashing lights on an aircraft.
Then at the end when it split in two it reminded me of sparks, especially since they extinguished quickly.
Then that explosion behind the building, was just like a lightning flash.
Overall, I would call it a plasma ball (ball lightning).

Interesting, whatever it was.

Streak appears at 0:45, when the 'cameraman' zooms in. Looks like the fireball almost comes straight at the observer's city, that's why it doesn't appear to move much horizontally. You can check the close angle when it breaks apart.

It seems that the video first appeared in July 2012 and seems of Russian origin.

And as stated it is interesting to watch.
